Noob question about using 7135 driver

Hi guys I e recently got into tinkering with lights and purchased 3 Convoy lights(S2+, C8+, and M1). I also picked up a few extra drivers to play around with. Can someone tell me the specs on the older red 7135 12 group biscotti driver? It has 8 chips with a 2800ma output but that's all I know. I would like to know the voltage specs because I am mounting it into an aluminum pill of one of my (2)AA lights. I didn't even expect it to work but the light comes on but is in what I suspect is a moonlight/low battery warning setting since the voltage is too low. I'm using 2 rechargeable Nimh AAs with 2.67 v combined. The end goal is to run 14500 in it if possible. So my next step would be to order a couple 14500s and a dummy battery so I can run 1 lion cell at a time with that driver.

Sorry for the crazy post! Am I correct so far with the new confusing information I have learned?

AMC7135 will allow current while some voltage (2.6v-6v) is applied to its vdd leg. so 2.67v is within spec
In your driver the MCU is driving the 7135s. The operating voltage of the MCU is 1.5v-5.5 (depends on configuration), also within spec.

Usually excess voltage is burnt on the 7135s ie. if you use a fully charged 14500 li-ion with 4.1v and you LED Vf is 3.3v 0.8v are burnet on the 7135s

I can't get the driver to do anything as far as modes or configuration menu. I don't know how it comes but it just turns on and seems like 100% but I can't be sure. It is very very dim with 2 nimh bit when jumping the head to a 18650 it seems to be on 100% light mode. Did I maybe ruin something while soldering?
