D25 brands, are all the same quality?

For a long time I want to modifying a D25 headlamp.
I am mostly interested in the housing (and maybe the emitters). The driver and optics will be replaced.

I have noticed this model is sold under many brands and model names, are all variant the same quality?
If the housing built quality is same for all lights, where can I get the cheapest one?

Also, did I miss any other interesting mod-able aluminum housing with dual emitters and single 18650 or 21700

TIA

Why risk going for the cheapest one.

Sofirn has them for 15 dollar or less with code UBK82QA7

Better D25L with hi cri for 16$ . For no name youll pay about 12$ anyway

I am asking in order not to risk. If it is exactly the same product, there is no reason to pay more

Is there any different other than the emitters, since I am only interested in the housing?

Maybe branded have better anodizing , but cannot confirm. I ques they all made in same factory anyway

if you only need a host then does not matter, with cheap light you’ll most likely get L2 leds which make a terrible beam, with a hole inside, more expensive ones have leds that make smooth even beam.

My guess is quality would be the same. To be honest even the Sofirn D25S is acceptable quality for it’s price point but it’s nowhere near as nice as Sofirn flashes. Threads are a bit grindy, tail spring is ultra budget etc. But they are $15 not $30. I doubt Sofirn makes them and agree the all likely come from the same factory.

I think the UI is different. Not that it matters I guess

I can't speak for the D25's ..But when the D-10 Boruit first came out I became a huge fan and bought some off ebay using a $3 off coupon raccoon city made members aware of ...

One or two versions had a much glossier finish .kind of that cheaper ano look and yet had a much more aggressive knurl to it . Personally I like the softer more matte look and feel . My guess is there's no easy answer to this question .

Another obvious weak point has been addressed.. the clips that don't hold or weren't made correctly in the first place.

The person to ask is probably Barry since he sourced these to make their sofirn version.

Thanks guys.
What do you think on AliExpress Sofirn E-battery Store?
It seems like a (semi?) oficial Sofirn stror and have free delivery which can save few $ outside USA

Regarding the UI of the "D25" vs Sofirn's D25S/D25L.

I've got the dual-LED Boruit D25 ("L2" LEDs, probably some fairly decent clone of XM-L2, but not genuine XM-L2),
UI is fairly straightforward:
- from Off, single click always goes to the 3rd brightness level (level 3 out of 5 brightness levels), a quick follow up click goes to highest brightness.
but if not quickly followed by a click, then the next single click will be Off instead.
- hold to cycle brightness levels, which cycles downwards (instead of upwards for most other lights), ie. L3 - L2 - L1 - L5 - L4
- double-click goes to Strobe, another double-click cycles to SOS, then another double-click goes to Beacon.
- single-click from On will turn Off

- has no mode memory

Sofirn D25S and D25L use the same UI:
- it's similar but different:
- single-click turns on at last used mode (has Mode Memory)
- hold will cycle brightness (5 levels), but the direction can change

- single-click from On to turn Off

But you mentioned you're going to change the driver, so it probably doesn't matter.
D25 uses some kind of XM-L2 or clone.
D25S uses SST40, while D25L uses LH351D

I've tried (once only) ordering batteries from the AliExpress "E-battery store by Sofirn", they shipped out but the package got stopped somewhere (in transit country?), was refunded the entire amount, this was prior to the pandemic. (In general, it's difficult to ship bare batteries to my country, so either the AliExpress store has to misdeclare the item description (not as "batteries"), and package must not be stopped somewhere in transit...)

I remember the person I was messaging with on the E-Battery AliExpress message chat is the same person that I'm chatting if I order from Sofirn's AliExpress store, and also the same person when ordering from the Beamax Lighting store of AliExpress (so it looks like Sofirn has at least 3 stores in AliExpress: Sofirn, Beamax, and E-Battery. If there are others, I'm not familiar yet though).

Thanks for the info d_t_a

I don't know why but this store doesn't have the L version. Only regular and S

It would be interesting an AA version of these lamps by Sofirn with ramping, firefly <0.1lm different optics betwin 2 Leds
