[Honest review] Wurkkos TS21 - 3500 lumens EDC & Type-C

The reduction in power from turbo is also what I experienced. It starts dropping almost immediately as your graph shows.

Well, it is safe that it steps down fast, but i’d calibrate it with a negative offset.

I calibrated my temp sensor, then set max temp for 60C. Using my IR temperature gun, with the light set to turbo, the head temp quickly ramps up to 65C, then drops down a bit and holds 61C to 64C. I don’t have my lumen tube here so I can’t say how much the light intensity dropped, but the thermal regulation is working great.

I’m not using a professional grade IR gun (Harbor Freight  ) so don’t count on my absolute values being real accurate.

IIRC, this is the light that sadly doesn’t use Carlco optics and so it can’t be customized?

The optics are larger than the 105xx by a 2mm or so and smaller than 106xx by 1mm. The glass that fits into the ss bezel tube is the same size as the F3WA (if that makes sense and there is an exploded view of it on reddit). A standard triple will fit and might actually be a bit better because siders won’t get cut off. In stock form it does not take the Carclo optics, but with slight modification, it can probably take both.

is the discount available for the 4000k version? it is saying the code cannot be applied on both 5000k and 4000k

love those Rodney Dangerfield clips for going into the “danger”ous field  thanks for the review flashaholic!

I really want to buy this light, so much I like about it and I don’t yet own a small multi led carclo optic style of light. I’m really hoping someone can answer this question, in particular those that have experience with the anduril UI.

It seems thermal management in this light is aggressive, it steps down to around 200 lumens then flattens out without active thermal management (i.e. Increasing output again as temperature lowers).

Does anduril have the capability to add active thermal management?

I’m aware of some of the other features that can make improvements, such as setting the thermal ceiling to a higher value, but that’s not what I’m really referring to.

Other lights with anduril seem to have active thermal management such as Emisar where output bounces up and down and is dependent on light temperature.

If it adjusts output according to thermal conditions is that not ‘active’ meaning it will go up and down? Or maybe when output is reduced you’ll need to put it manually back to a higher mode.

Hi CR888, to give you an example of what I mean, here’s a runtime graph for the Emisar D4S which I consider to have active thermal regulation which is what I want in the TS21, from zeroair.org:

You can see how the driver is automatically trying to return to it’s initial level.

A review from 1lumen.com has the output graph for the Wurkkos TS21:

So once the light gets too hot, it drops to around 200 lumens without attempting to increase output, hence it likely has to be done manually.

For my application, I really don’t wish to keep pressing the mode switch button manually as I’ll be using it on trails for cross biking. Hence I’m hoping the firmware from Anduril has what I refer to as active thermal management in the first graph. I also won’t be using turbo, rather likely the next level down, or at least at a constant level of around or close to 1000 lumens which it should be capable of with good air flow.

I’ll be all over this light like barnacles on a whale if it’s capable of this.

the ATR has been modify, much better now, the previous need a Temperature calibration will modify

“the ATR has been modify, much better now, the previous need a Temperature calibration will modify”

Does the light now have better thermal regulation?

Or are you saying users need to calibrate the temperature?

In the graph, Temperature was calibrated and maximum temperature was set to 60 degrees.

This is exactly what I was talking about, dropping to 200 lumens makes it completely worthless (to me.)

The part that completely makes no sense, is that it barely warm when it ramps down.

Oh Yes, the temperature was calibrated in the graph.
“Or are you saying users need to calibrate the temperature?”—-in previous stock yes, users do a calibrate on the temperature will runs better . New stock in our local store now all have modify the issues, except those stock send to FBA prevous.

Those colors are really nice.

Mine came with the temperature within like 1deg right out of the box, which was nice. Left it overnight to equilibrate to ambient, and pretty much speed-raced to do the temperature blinkout vs my thermometer as to not let holding it or the light being on to heat it up.

Damn just when I get the black model, the gray is released.

Any idea when the new colors will be sold on AliExpress? With the new VAT rules I think buying from Wurkkos.com to Belgium might pose some problems for now…
