Yea, but the mass isn't in the best place for cooling, for sure. It doesn't need a deep reflector and doesn't need a massive style tail switch - tail switch's can be done shorter.
can a driver reprogram make the e-switch a power switch? that’d solve my issues w/ the host. I’m not mentioning these issues to the 2 ladies that like the light. ignorance is bliss.
Hhmm, you mean like what regular Anduril or Anduril 2 do? With these, like most e-switch firmware, they shut power off to the LED and put the system into a low power standby which is typically in the range of 20-30 uA. A click though "wakes" it up from standby mode.
If the MCU treated the e-switch like full power shutoff, then there would be no way to wake it back up via the e-switch. You may still have some parasitic drain as well from the driver components, not the MCU itself.
I'm hoping it will be as easy mod upgrade to a driver running Anduril 2 with the tactical switch support. All that means for Anduril 2 is that a power switch ON turns the LED on to the last used level instead of leaving the LED off, as it does normally. I got a couple modded lights with an e-switch and a power switch running like this, and for me it works pretty well.
Just wish Wurkkos made this light this way, out of the box.
I was sort of hoping I could put my usb dongle to use and flash the existing driver. Please let me know if you find a suitable driver. It will be cold out before I have time to take it apart myself.
