【convoy】H4 and B35AM options are updated

Max output here will be as high as 4700lm according to my math assuming the same relative overdriving and efficacy at max as the SFT40. Notice, the SFT70 has no notches on the corners for the bond wire pads, and so the LESA is 7:3.86 or so. With a 1:1 scaling (likely won’t be this good) that’s a 1.8:1 ratio of lumens:amp vs SFT40 (mind you it’s at 6V and 3V respectively). Max ~70W.

Making a boost driver economically to push this emitter won’t be commonplace, if at all, unless we can mass produce a BLF design. 55W could deliver 93% of max output to keep things slightly more practical…

Looking forward to tests on the SFT70!

Yeah, Anduril is pretty complex...mostly just setting it up but then the basics are simple unless you have to go looking for features. I almost like Narsilm better but there are things I appreciate about Anduril 1/2. Actually the ramping firmware that Sofirn uses on their C8 lights is pretty nice, too, and much more simple (they are putting Anduril on many new lights now, though).

Smooth ramping is wonderful, and the quick easy reversing of ramp direction is very convenient and intuitive. The M3/M3C ramping could be improved and it would be a much better driver. The extras in these others like battery check and manual temperature adjustments, electronic switch lockout...those are very nice to have.

In for 3 pcs

Simon,
You have to well spaced modes in L6 and L7, because current are not OK.
Add 100, and 50. Others downside, do not care.
And 100% should be adjustable. I prefer 3800 lumen instead of 5000 lumen on L7.
If you do not know, but L7 can not hold 5000 lumen. They drop immediately and within 2 minutes goes to 2300 lumen.
That is not good at all.

Simon have in design quad light with variable color temperature.
Wish will be 219B option 3000+4500k

Guys, don’t get me wrong but all your wishes and desires for triples and quads and tint ranping and stuff are already covered by Sofirn, HankLights, Fireflies etc.

All your “i want” cost more than you think and Convoy was always budget.
I’d suggest to take a deep breath and start ordering parts from kiriba-ru who has pills and adapters for triples and start building your own stuff.
This type of crying can be seen at more expensive Hank thread and it’s becoming more and more anoying. Like 4x4 people in Olight group

Plus the price of the current Emisar D4 is substantially higher then the price of the original V1 version.

Maybe not everyone wants or are able to build a multi-emitter light himself.
Ordering parts for DIY often costs lot more besides the risk of failure.
Unfortunately the IF25 came with 2 super cool low Cri LEDs, If you don’t like mean you have to mod.
Intl-outdoor.com doesn’t seem willing to create a D4 / KR4 variable temperature and their lights cost lot.
If convoy is able to make quality lights by innovating and listening our “wishes” keeping budget price
I think we can ask, sure it doesn’t become obsession avoiding made a useless collection of flashlights.

Maybe it’s best to run something like a „super-poll“ to gather as much feedback as possible of what people want most? This way, we could reroute all the „I want this so badly“ desires into a special corner whereas Simon can here reply/post to technical things?

Just thinkin‘…

Great reply Lux!

Can we also make the tint ramping light change CCT with time of day and time zone?

/s kind of

What a great amount of detail being provided here. Simon’s attention to detail and interactiveness with the community is impressive and I’m compelled to get my first Convoy flashlight.

Btw Simon, what’s the desk lamp brand/model that you’re using in your CRI video?

There is that vexing thing called market demand. A few requests here and there may be atypical of the more prevalent and useful demand. Perhaps instead of a simple request for a light design alteration, one could explain the intention with the request. It sounds to me like Simon may be experienced enough to actually recommend an existing flashlight for the need in many cases.

3x21a is my first SST-40. Ordered 5000k but it looks cooler than my other 5000k lights, wondering if I got the wrong one. Not bluish, but not NW.

Also, wondering if anyone’s found a good holster for this 3x21a. I have one it fits in but only head up.

Better request a specific type of product than a compulsive and useless purchase.
After all how many lights we use really?

HI Simon

Do you intend to make L6 with SFT40?...or L7 with SFT40?

Thanks for the info, a quad with tint ramping would be sweet!

Completely agree, some of the demands and requests are getting a bit crazy.
Convoy’s reputation is for high quality, budget, easy to use flashlights, with lots of emitter options.
If you want hotrods, RGB aux LEDs on disco mode, quads with mixed emitters, and having to perform factory resets after one false click, then look at lights from Hank, Fireflies, et al.

I’m going to have to agree also. I’ve got two types of flashlights;tools and toys. Convoy makes tools, physical switches, heavy wall construction, simple UI’s and reliable. Toys with flashy lights, sublights, multi step programming I buy else where. I’m guilty I think Convoy should up a few amps here and there on some lights. Build a few hot rods pushing the limits. Instead he builds light I can actually let nonflashaholics use without fear of burning themselves or screwing up the programs.

Agree, not interested in the tricked-up fancy stuff for everyday lights. Just need something that works….and is easy for the whole family to operate, grab and go without stressing if they click too many times that they will stuff up the settings. A basic UI and reliability to just work when needed is all I want.

Saving up for a couple of Convoy lights…particularly either the C8 or L21B (dedicated green Ostram and whit LED’s)
