Which movie did you watch lastֻ

EDGE OF THE WORLD (2021)

Last movie I watched was CODA on Apple.

It was excellent. :+1:

I’ve seen it a few times, but every time I watch it amazes me.
Richard Feynman was a brilliant mind and great teacher.
Watching him explaining things make them really easy to understand.

Columbus (2017) - wonderful movie, and zero superheroes and government assassins.

Still trying to figure out the ending.
Great performance by Aaron Eckhart.

From a thriller (That what I was expecting…)
to a creepy horror movie.

Titanic.

Spoiler alert: the boat sinks.

“Thriller” and especially “Horror” are the two descriptions about the movie you’ll find all over the net. If it’s horror, it might get creepy somewhere. So I didn’t post any real spoiler… no more than you can find by just reading the info/plot about Hunter Hunter. But I got your point. Will be more careful in the future when writing comments.

Not in the reboot. Or should I say, the reboat.

sp5it, thanks for the Feynman clip.

we enjoy physics although we do not
understand most of the quantum explanations.
Feynman makes it easier to figure out what is going on.

after reading about him, he would not have
survived the Me Too movement in academia.

I saw Nobody (2021).

[One of my favorite movies of all time.]

This is one of the best action flicks I've ever seen.

I actually forgot it was an action film, so when it started I thought it was just a drama.

I've never seen Bob Odenkirk in a dramatic role, or as an action star.

I've always known him as a comedian.

He is an excellent dramatic actor, and a superb action star.

Christopher Lloyd also is a bit of an action star in this film as well.

This movie reminds me of Spiral with Chris Rock because Chris Rock isn't known to be a dramatic actor or action movie guy either.

This movie reminds me of the John Wick movies because John Wick killed a ton of Russian bad guys in that film series as well.

This movie reminds me of Payback with Mel Gibson, another action movie that I love.

Nobody could have been more of a film noir movie if the visuals would have been darker like in Payback.

This movie has great acting from everyone, and excellent music to boot.

Although this movie was released in 2021, it was filmed before the pandemic, and it shows.

What a great action movie.

I really hope they make a sequel.

One Cut of the Dead (2017)
(Japanese audio with English subs)

It’s a comedy about the making of a 30 minute zombie movie live and in one cut for television. It had some pretty funny moments but fell a little short for me. I don’t think I’ll be watching any more comedies that I need to read subtitles for. It definitely mars the experience for me. I think comedy is something best experienced in a language you know.

This movie struck me as a John Wick cash-in. I’m not against that necessarily if it means we get more movies with great action choreography and cool world-building. But this movie doesn’t have the same world-building and something about the violence in this one just felt….mean, for lack of a better word. I didn’t think “wow cool” like I did for most of the John Wick action.

I also didn’t really like the main character because he seemed like a violence-obsessed douchebag who was meant to personify “toxic masculinity”. Maybe I’m not supposed to like him, idk. It did seem like this movie was halfheartedly trying to deconstruct what makes us enjoy movies like John Wick. I didn’t appreciate that because it seemed like the movie makers were trying to wash their hands of the movie while they were making it.

I saw Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021).

As far as I can tell, this is the director's cut of Justice League (2017).

The 2021 movie is 4 hours and 2 minutes, while the 2017 film is 2 hours even.

I never saw the 2017 version, but it has a much lower score on IMDb, so that's probably for the best.

The 2021 movie is good, but not great.

The acting is decent for a superhero movie, and the music is pretty good.

It is the longest movie I have ever seen.

The movie is a bit slow in places, but I wouldn't call it boring.

The movie is good for a DC movie, but isn't that great compared to the average Marvel film.

One weird thing is that that movie is full screen.

I much prefer wide screen, and almost all new TVs and monitors are wide screen, so I am not alone.

It's weird (and distracting) to watch a full screen movie released in 2021.

Anyway, if you like superhero movies, this one is good.

Wait, you mean like 4:3 ratio from back in the day of CRT TVs?!

If so, that is utterly bizarre.

Edit: Looked it up. Apparently he was trying to stay as close to the IMAX ratio as possible while shooting on 35mm film.

Yes, 4:3 ratio is also known as full screen.

Yea Snyder’s explanation for the 4:3 ratio is BS though. He said it was planned that way from the beginning. If you compare scenes from the two movies you can clearly see that the Snyder Cut was cropped for a lot of scenes. Visual information was lost.

The Snyder Cut was 100x better than the 2017 cut in terms of plot and action. The sequel-bait ending ruined the experience for me somewhat. Let me enjoy the happy ending Snyder! Spiderman Far From Home did the same thing in it’s after-credits scene. That shit pisses me off.

If I buy the Snyder Cut on Blu-ray, every time I watch it I’m gonna turn it off before that stupid post-apocalyptic ending trailer.

Conan the Barbarian (2011)

Eye-candy sets, costumes, and actors. Some decent action. Pretty mediocre plot. Acting is a mixed bag. I own this on 4k just for the eye candy.

Conan abandons the love-interest at the end. This is really shitty and unrealistic. It was shitty because he probably got her pregnant and then just left. It’s unrealistic because no man in their right mind would abandon 2011 Rachel Nichols!

Someone should crucify him on the Tree Of Woe.

That might be controversial—seems the ladies love Jason Mamoa. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just for the record, I do own both of the original Conan movies. I know what’s best in life!

Double header this past weekend:

Beckett on Friday and A Quiet Place 2 on Saturday.

IMO, one can skip Beckett, but if you saw AQP, then watch AQP2, however it wasn’t as good.
