[FLF] Five Light Friday - what would you keep?

I want to keep em all ! But this is what I played with this week .

Emisar D4V2
Emisar DT8
Nightwatch NSX3
Noctigon K9.3
WT90

Awesome setup! Id keep them lol

Damn, cant disagree with this hah. DT8 and WT90 are 2 of my top "lights of the year" candidates

OK, so I almost feel like i am cheating because now i am posting some lights that after more thought i should've posted last week (cough cough K75 cough..) So i feel like it is ok if this list changes week to week. I definitely meant to include this Convoy and forgot about it because it doesn't sit with all of my other lights. the M21a with cslpm1 is the best bang for buck light of any i own. ok, here it is:

Emisar DT8 - xpl-hi 4000k 5D

Convoy M21a - CSLPM1, 6amp driver

Acebeam K75 - yes!

Noctigon KR1 - sft40 (the BEST setup! Perfect beam)

Skilhunt M300 - xhp35 HI 4000k, Hi CRI (so awesome, i got this week, and i already know I will never sell it. Really surprised me). Thanks to members Mpblitt and ID30209 for making this light the way it is and helping it find me hah.

Zebralight H603c - my most used light. Mainly used during hobbyist activities and modding.

Zebralight SC64w HI - excellent all-round EDC light.

  • Small and light.
  • Turbo isn’t as bright, but it sustains higher output than any of my small triples or quads. An FW3A or D4 starts much higher than the Zebralight. Tailstand both, turn them onto their highest setting and let them run for 90 seconds. The Zebralight is noticeably brighter.
  • It’s a testament to Zebralight’s design that even though this model is something like 4-years old, there still isn’t anything the same size that does it all better.

Modded Emisar D4V1. I like this one, because it works well, is unique, and is special because I modded it myself.

  • Firmware updated to Anduril.
  • Metal switch boot
  • Lighted ring around the switch boot (lit with 15 small aux blue leds).
  • Blue aux bezel leds.
  • Quad XPL HI. I think I have three 5D and one 3D inside.
  • All anodizing removed and bare aluminum polished up.
  • Chrome FW3A clip installed.

Jetbeam TCR-01 - beautiful titanium light with great interface and look.

  • Mine is sporting a dedomed 4000K Dogfarts LH351D.

Lumintop FWAA Ti-Cu with 4000K SST20. For when I’m the mood for something smaller.

Note: My “favorite lights” list changes frequently, depending on my mood or what I just got. It’s entirely likely I would have a different answer next week.

Quite easy, I only have 5.

- Sofirn SP40

- Convoy S21B with KW CULPM1.TG

- Convoy S11 with GT FC40

- Convoy S2 + with 219B

  • Convoy C8+ with KW CSLNM1

Nice!

Nice! I need to see a pic of that D4V1 !

Here you go. This is how it looks now:

Oh yeah. It also has a steel bezel and the body tube is from a D4v2.

Here are a few pictures from when I was modding it. Initial builds had a taller switch, but I was able to flatten it some through further modding. Here is an early version:

First attempt. Using a cut down lighted tailcap board. This only had 2 aux leds in it:

I wasn’t happy with how unbalanced the switch light looked coming from just 2 LEDs. So I redid the aux board around the switch. The new one is entirely scratchbuilt. I used a thin sheet of plastic, super-glued each led into position, and then connected them all up using a conductive ink pen. Much better:

The metal switch button is actually just an aluminum disk glued onto a piece of translucent silicone. I then glued the silicone so that it completely covered and sealed the switch opening. Finally for the switch rim I glued on a filed down chrome-plated brass finishing washer.

Nice job ! That looks cool !

Very nice mod Firelight2!

FireLight2 - that is SO AWESOME. my god. i envy your Ingenuity!! that is the most important trait to have when modding, i am trying to develop the skill, but seeing a mod like This, just unbelievable! using an aluminum button and silicon for the switch (i was going to ask if you bought it form Simon LOL, Nope! ya made it!). OR, n0t to mention, making your own damn aux LED board with plastic and a conductive pen? ive never even heard of a conductive pen! how much current can it carry? do you have to do two leads around the plastic (1 for + 1 for -?). Just such a good mod. Not to mention the BARE Aluminum! my favorite finish, i have been contemplating pulling apart one of my noctigon / emisar's for months now to strip the ano and have a "custom" bare aluminum edc, but ive never pulled apart a light or stripped anodization. but i have read a bunch about how to strip anodization, so i think i could do it. I also want to try to anodize a custom color on the aluminum. i know Dye quality is very important for a good result. i will try it eventually. great work, very inspiring!

Edit - i have literally been looking at your pictures and reading your thread for a half hour now. lol. dammit.

Just skimming this thread is a bad idea. I want a green Olight Seeker 2 now - very sharp looking in Djozz and weklund pics.

EDIT

Dang limited edition Pro - I guess maybe not : (

The L35 is a solid car, backpack and emergency light. With the current Acebeam sale of $47 off using ACE470, I’m tempted to get another one.

The simple UI and solid build make it an easy light to offer a friend or family to borrow. I purchased a rainbow titanium E70 CRI and L19 white already so I have till tomorrow to decide if I need another.

On vacation so no FLF for me today.. anyone else got one??

L>R

Malkoff MDC HA - workaday EDC
Surefire 9Z Combat light - my old battle horse (w/Malkoff P61)
Sofirn SC31PRO - after hours EDC
Convoy M21A CSLPM1.TG - cuz it’s awesome
Fulton MX991/U - for nostalgia

Once I got to thinking, wasn’t too hard.

1. Olight Baldr Pro - easy to switch to different weapons and can be used by hand
2. Maxtoch LA60 - or Olight Odin Turbo, if the apocalypse has started
3. Fenix FD65 - this would probably be Convoy 3x21A if fasttech had sent the one I ordered…5000k
4. Sofirn S11C - similar to #2, if the apocalypse has started, I’d go w/ Olight S2 baton instead, for reliability
5. Streamlight 44931 Siege (3xD) - I have over 30 Tenergy 10kmah Ds, otherwise I’d probably stick with my 44941 which is 3xAA

I’ve only just hit 12 lights with the addition of two Noctigon KR4s. Even so, this is a really tough decision. I’m forced to weed out recent acquisitions and admit I really don’t need them.

1. Thrunite TN40s NW - an impressive combo of flood and throw that is temperature regulated and has enough thermal mass and battery capacity to make it’s high modes more than just a gimmick.

2. Zebralight SC64c LE - 18650 light that’s smaller than many AA lights. Rock solid design and very efficient. Pleasing beam and I think mine has good tint. This is my practical EDC pick

3. Emisar D4V2 - Black Aluminum, XPL-HI 5000k emitters for crazy output. This one has a red backlit button to match red aux lights. Hotrod EDC pick

4. Sofirn SP36 BLF 4000k - This beats out the sc700d for jacket light because of battery capacity and throw.

5. Emsiar D4V2 Brass - For practical reason’s I’d want to keep the Aluminum light I have with the same 2700k e21a emitters but I think I favor the tint on the brass one.

Oh man, these are all awesome picks!

collecteverything- I'd love to see a pic of these keepers, especially that thrunite!

couldn't agree more on that m21a ! the best bang for buck lights I own and just overall awesome.
