Lumintop tool AA strobe mode fault

Hi all,

After many years of lurking on here I finally decided to join. All the reviews, insights, tips and tricks have been a great resource to me so thanks for all.

Anyways, I recently bought a lumintop tool AA (kit) it comes with the battery and magnetic tailcap option. My problem is the strobe function works on a rare occasion at best. Once all modes are cycled through to reach strobe it usually just cuts out. The blue glow on tail switch goes and the light has to be unscrewed to operate again. Ive cleaned the contacts and threads and taken the tail cap apart to see if all is normal. The strobe mode also fails when using the magnetic tailcap and operating the light from the head.

Has anyone else encountered this issue or have any ideas where to start trouble-shooting?

Thanks!

welcome to the forum

congrats on your new light

maybe the battery needs charging?
have you measured battery voltage?

if the blue lights on the tail are working, you must be using a LiIon battery.
If LiIon voltage goes below 3.6v, charge it.

let us know if that solves the problem

fwiw, when a light turns itself off, it is trying to help you realize the battery needs charging. Unscrewing and re-firing the light, defeats that safety system, and can cause you to overdischarge the battery.

you NEED to be able to check battery voltage

fwiw, here in USA a battery is not included in the kit, so I dont know what battery you got

Thanks for the warm welcomes and your input

So it comes with what I believe is their own brand 920mAh 14500 the battery has a built in microusb charging port and LED charging indicator. I’ve been playing with it a little today and interestingly it only seems to be an issue with the cell fully charged once it has seen a little use it functions perfectly. I have a titanium version on the way which includes the same battery so I’ll see how that one operates.

This issue aside it’s an impressive little light!
