Lumintop Tool AAA or Wuben E01 ?

Hello everyone, I would like to buy one of the two, which one and why ?
Lumintop Tool AAA (with Osram led) at 17$ – Wuben E01 with XP-G3 at 15,61$
both find on Aliexpress (so shipping included)

Thank you very much!

Not sure if the UI on the Tool AAA has changed but IIRC it was M-L-H. Personally went with the Wuben since I prefer L-M-H, but changing modes quickly will go to SOS mode. Not really a deal breaker it’s just something to take note of. You might want to change the XP-G3 into something else as well.

Thank you !
I like the shape of both, very similar, and maybe the Wuben with XP-G3 is newest but in the product photos the clicky switch it’s different. In some photos it looks much more “internal” while in others it looks more “external”, like the Tool.

another difference to consider is the tool has a Tir, for a nice diffused beam, good for close range

wuben is just another sofirn

the Tool is a Classic… I love them

I have both UI
I prefer the MLH over the LMH because I use Medium most

here is a great Tool aaa review

I love the look of the copper patina in the top photo of the last two flashlights of different lengths. Love the look of weathered metal! Thumbs Up

Typical of most Wubens, excellent hardware, retarded UI. Think it was too easy to get into blinkies which bugged the crap outta me.

The Tool just seemed way too long for the battery length with a long head, long tailcap, etc.

So, not terribly thrilled with either, went and stuck with twisties like the E3A and Ti3.

Could toss the Wowtac in there, too, to further muddy the waters.

Any links to where you bought the LMH mode? Always wanted the Tool but preference of UI got in the way.

Not sure about the Wuben being newer. The Wuben does not tailstand if that’s what you mean? It bulges out a bit around 2-3mm. lock has some very high res images of it in his review here.

Here is a pic of the tailcap from lock’s review. The photo link is not cooperating so I can’t attach the photo itself https://digilander.libero.it/enrico.rnt5/Wuben%20E01/Wuben%20E01%20(16).jpg

I am not big on aaa lights. I prefer aa for small lights.

With aa you can use 14500 which is a great alternative to nimh or alkaline.

Between the tool (with nichia) and the E01 I have taken a liking for the E01, they are so similar but these 3 points I prefer on the Wuben:
-starts in low
-longer runtime in low (about 3x if I remember right)
-better knurling

Nichia has a lot better tint, but the E01 is decently neutral (on mine, don’t know about variation), and I can avoid the blinking modes, so the Wuben is what I carry. Like you I prefer a click over twist, and AA was just a little bit too big

Ah it’s one of the fancy metals. Thanks! I’ll think about it.

Guys, thanks everyone for the tips! You are really nice! In the end I chose the Tool, although I was also very tempted by the E01. The Tool, as rightly said, is a classic model, it has been on my wish list for quite some time, but for one reason or another I never bought it. I had to do it. Maybe the next one will be the E01 hahaha Big Smile

It still is M-L-H, but in my experience the newer ones with LH351D and pebbled TIR have mode memory. I personally like it.

Guys it has arrived! Initially I was a little disappointed with the size: she is very small! I was expecting much longer. Let me be clear, she is so cute! It disappears in my (small) hand, I repeat, I am slightly “disappointed” but not because it is ugly, I did not expect this size.
