Amazon Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

Haven’t received mine yet, but UPS is also delivering mine too. What do you think of the quality of the cords and switch??

Switch body is solid, good size posts and soldering looks clean. Good insulation on outer and inner wires. I’ll buy it again at that price.

Been wanting a low-DC clamp meter for awhile and waiting (and waiting) for a better price on the UNI-T 210E. Labor Day discounted prices still going on although the price increased a tiny bit. $48.22 right now after a 9% discount on the listing for the newer “Pro” version. Price dropped a bit on Sunday and I got it for $42, received it today. Nifty little device and my only complaint is that the backlight has a very short timer and apparently no way to keep it lit. Comes with decent but average cheap leads. Got a line splitter while I was at it and played around with AC amps tonight. I know that most motors briefly draw a considerably higher current on startup even if they aren’t capacitor start, but it was surprising to see the numbers on various tools. Going to take it to the office tomorrow to check laser printers and dreaded space heaters. Eventually I’ll get around to using it on flashlights.

Nice Uni-T meter. FYI, Triplett makes a line splitter/outlet checker combo that works great. Search Amazon for Triplett AC Line Splitter and GFCI Outlet/Receptacle Tester with 5 Visual Indicators (ET200).

I saw that one. I've already got stuff for that but one thing I didn't like about using that model with a clamp meter for AC was the added leverage from all that length. Looks like a handy almost-all-in-one though. I didn't like the price compared to the cheaper ones but I got the Amprobe splitter. After opening it up, I guess I'm glad I picked that one. These are so very simple but the cheapies are pretty poorly constructed. The Amprobe looks a little better inside in terms of wire gauge and the 10x winding, soldering, etc. The Klein and Southwire shorties are neat but 10x only. The meter is pretty nifty though. Next time I see our HVAC guys I'm hoping they can spare a minute to compare readings on mine with one of their Flukes just out of curiosity.

I have had the opportunity several times to compare my Uni-T with our electricain’s various meters and the little Uni-T has always been spot on… It is a really nice find. I did order one of the cheap splitters, will not be left plugged in. I will use it to calibrate energy monitoring plugs for my Home Assistant install. After conversion to Tasmota they really do need to be calibrated and with the voltage tap and current tap all in one place and a known load it all becomes very easy.

Looks great. Just received mine today. I feel silly about it. I didn’t realize until now, the reason the switch is three feet from the wall side is because if you place the extension
cord behind a piece of furniture, the switch will still be accessible. In fact, that is how I’m using this cord, so it’s great and very flexible. I don’t intend to use it outside for any
reason.

That’s a pretty nifty tool!.

Just did the meter. Now $52.20 out the door.

Hey folks, if you can get this power pack for that price, jump on it. I love mine!!!

Looks like a good alternative to a UPS.

Not if you want to keep the device under continuous power.
In the descriptions it says charging the batteries and using the device for power at the same time will shorten the battery life.
UPS is designed to make the switch to battery power seamlessly. Then return to line power and charge the batteries when power is restored.
I’d like something like this, just not sure which flavor to get. So many of the reviews on this type device are just regurgitating the factory propaganda.
All the best,
Jeff

Okay, thanks for the clarification.

For a hundred Bucks its worth a shot.

The one thing I like better on my Rockpals 300w unit is the direct 120v input not requiring the wall adapter.

That being said…I did order one for a friend.
