Convoy L21B (SFT40): Review & Beamshots

Nice review!

I would like to see how it compares to the L21a CULPM1.

Gonna take it out tonight and see!!!

I like it...thanks for the review

Perfect. Didn’t know you have both these lights to compare. I have my money on the l21a, should be a close match. Man, this might be the cheapest 400kcd light. What a awesome deal

Great review on an awesome flashlight Rusty Joe! Simon continues to keep the quality up with all of his stuff (flashlights, hosts, drivers, etc.) while still offering a lot of bang for the buck.

Was that an opossum at the end of the video?

lol yes. He comes out and rummages through things quite regularly!

Great job, Rusty!!! :+1: :+1: :+1:

L21A wins the day!

Thanks for the review Rusty Joe
The Convoy L21B with the SFT40 dedomed led will be my next light because more lumens downstream.
Numbers are good but I like the beam better like you stated in the video.
.

Need some recommendations where to buy this? I don’t see it in Convoy’s Ali store at all or anywhere on Ali, found it on Fasttech for $38. Bangood $44 plus shipping, unless there’s a coupon somewhere?

I’m also interested. I haven’t purchased my first Convoy yet. It says “no longer available” on Aliexpress. Is there a shortage of the LEDs used?

Temporarily out of stock. It seems to be the hottest emitter on the market market right now in terms of demand. Supply ebbs and flows. It’s supposed to be restocked this month for production, and Sofirn has already resumed sales of IF22/IF22A. I was fortunate enough to grab an L21B with it in the 2nd wave. Just a powerhouse of throw and spill, and very little heat. Love it.

I received my L21B SFT 40 today, very nice light for the money.
I did a quick comparison with my modified Olight M2X-UT ( dedomed XM-L2 around 4000k tint/ 1150 lumens / 280 klux — light is almost identical in size) I had to really look hard for differences and really didn’t see any until I got out to 300+ yds.
Overall the Convoy is a steal , 5-6 yrs ago the Olight was $80, then I had to change the LED and driver. I just wish they made these new LEDs in 5000k and warmer

5000K is planned. Convoy currently use the 5700K

UPPDATE;
After quite a few attempts with 20+ clicks was able to get into program mode and get to Buzz, Tap, then to 2 blinks, then click off and got set to desired option 2.
Takes patience.

Recently purchased one of these and can not seem to get in programming mode.
No instruction at all with light.
Thought is was Bistro?
Default mode makes you cycle through and would like just the L-H 5 mode no blinky.
Any help appreciated.

In my experience Convoy drivers expect really fast clicks. Instead of Click __Click__Click, it’s ClickClickClick. It can be a little annoying going back and forth. Lukily I don’t need to use the advanced options very much.

Instructions are on the shop description. Should be Biscotti UI. It wants pretty fast clicks (as in, taps, not actual clicks that turn the light off and on). Once you got the hang of it it is not that hard. Took me a while to set my first Convoy up though…

Here’s my take…don’t beat yourself up “counting” the ‘clicks’. Turn the light on. Then start half pressing repeatedly until the light stops cycling through the levels in the default mode, then let off on the switch to get your [flash] [buzz] cycle started. [Flash x 1][Buzz]>tap once to start cycling through the mode options (1 -12). When you get to the mode you want, click the switch fully to off.
Likewise to set memory…
[Flash x 2] [Buzz] > tap to activate/ deactivate last level memory.

I tried that but would always accidentally press too often and set it to something weird when I did that.

In the end, I counted to exactly 20 taps, and that worked at first try.

As stated in Update, I got it.
Knew not to count, just was not getting consistent timed half clicks. Switch on mine at least is stiff which does not help.
Anyway when not getting right it would go to buzzes but no response to tap.
Few more tries and it reacted properly.

All good now.
Thanks for all the assistance everyone. BLF Rocks it once again!
