Amazon Deal Alerts & Discussion Thread

Hey folks, if you can get this power pack for that price, jump on it. I love mine!!!

Looks like a good alternative to a UPS.

Not if you want to keep the device under continuous power.
In the descriptions it says charging the batteries and using the device for power at the same time will shorten the battery life.
UPS is designed to make the switch to battery power seamlessly. Then return to line power and charge the batteries when power is restored.
I’d like something like this, just not sure which flavor to get. So many of the reviews on this type device are just regurgitating the factory propaganda.
All the best,
Jeff

Okay, thanks for the clarification.

For a hundred Bucks its worth a shot.

The one thing I like better on my Rockpals 300w unit is the direct 120v input not requiring the wall adapter.

That being said…I did order one for a friend.

Thank you, just purchased!

$100 is a very nice deal coming in at $0.33/Wh, the standard pricing for brand name solar generators is $1/Wh.

My biggest gripe with these power stations is that they use lower grade Li-ion batteries and the voltage fluctuates even under small loads. With 50% charge left the “12V” output is actually <11.0V which will trigger the LVP for some of the devices designed for car use. And it goes all the way down to 9V which makes the inverter run inefficiently for the last 30-40% SoC. My Rockpal is 2 years old with maybe 80 cycles and I can already feel the battery performing poorly vs when it was new.

Lifepo4 on the other hand will maintain ~3.2V throughout most of the discharge curve and the 12V output remains rock solid at 12.6V under load.

Hi Will,

I too would prefer LIFEPO4 for my power banks, but until a great deal on one comes around, it’ll have to be these using 18650 or 26650 Li-ion for me. But I do feel your pain on previous
power banks I’ve purchased. The one that has been great for me for the last 3 years is my Nextrend 75000mAh / 278Wh Power Bank. It contains (15) 5,000mAh LiitoKala Brand INR 26650’s.
I’ve found many of these type of portable power monsters contain either DP brand cells, or like my Nextrend using LiitoKala Brand INR 26650’s. A photo of the inside of mine is below.

I will say this, if the Chinese want to build something like this with excellent soldering and very neatly laid out, they can if they want to. But where it counts are the batteries have really been excellent.

There is this one for $199.https://www.amazon.com/GOLABS-Portable-Station-Generator-Emergency/dp/B08P5SFV4D

And this one on lightning deal for $169.99, but it’s smaller and more expensive.

More than happy with the AFTIME, may grab a solar panel when a deal comes along

Both of those are very good, but I love my AFTIME with its built-in MPPT module to optimize solar charging

supfire gt60, less price than aliexpress by 10 dollar and prime shipped - 23.99

The one I posted uses LiFePO4 batteries, btw.

I received my EBL 8xAA battery set & charger. Batteries did not come charged. They were pretty low. Charging took a very long time. After 5 hours and only half-way through, I let it continue overnight. I assume it may have been about 10 hours total.

Btw, once off the charger, these 1.2v cells were reading at 1.42v. Is that normal? Are they actually capable of this voltage, or were they overcharged?

I removed mine from the EBL charger before they were fully charged. They were so hot, you could barely hold them. So I use my AA/AAA PowerEx charger instead.
They don’t get nearly as hot charging them at 200mAh - 300mAh setting. They typically come off the charger at about 1.42v and the static voltage reduces to about 1.37v.

“long press for 2 seconds to turn off”. That’s a big nope.

Edit: Just noticed in the photos it shows 6x cells which makes a 20,000mAh powerbank not 26,800mAh, but in the descriptions it claims it uses 21700? which according to this you might receive the 8x 18650 version or the 6x 21700 version POWERADD EnergyCell Series Power Bank, Power Your Devices – Poweradd

Poweradd is a well known charger & powerbank brand but something must have happened because seems like they’re pulling all of their products off amazon and selling them cheap under energycell store. I do remember they have been offering free stuff for positive reviews in the past, maybe same fate as tacklife?

Anyways $13.59 for a 26,800mAh powerbank with 30W PD charging is a steal, well that IF you get the real poweradd product. There is also a 15,000mAh version for $10.

Just got one of these in:

No special deal. But was looking for something nicer than my $10 crappy metal vernier - I can’t read the darn scale - ones. And not as expensive as my Mitutoyo $$$ digital one.
There are jobs I won’t use the good ones for. Too chicken on FUBARing them up.
Not as smooth, but all metal, matches the readings of the big bucks set, Came with 2 extra batteries. Case clasps don’t feel like they will last very long.
$19.98 + tax. If they last, heck of a deal if you are in the market. Way ahead of the plastic jobbies that are just $10-$12 cheaper.

All the Best,
Jeff
