what is this crap?

It definitely looks like wombat poo.

Wombat cubic faeces mystery solved and recognised by Ig Nobel prize

Looks like a charcoal briquette.

Looks like it hurt.

Chupacabra most likely.

No wonder they walk like that. :weary:

Dude, you need to add more fiber to your diet. You’re going to total your bunghole.

I'm surprised Bort figured it out.

There's not many wombats in Canada.

He must know about animals pretty well.

yes, this ^

Have a dear friend who lives outside of Moruya and has been involved in wombat rescue for years (mange and injuries from cars or dogs mostly, but rescues increased especially so after the fires). She clued me in to the cubic poo...recalled seeing this article a few years ago, didn't realize they had won a Nobel for it later. Original publication seems to have disappeared but it's the same folks. What a cool job to be able to investigate one of life's little trivia mysteries!

Maybe he has a crap collection for comparison?

Borg fæces.

well, i was guessing ambergris.
wrong.

It does look a little like it, but in actuality it is discovered totally misshapen, a fetid clump of whale spew. Are you familiar with ambergris and its original usage in cologne/fragrance creation?

Something really did crap a brick.

“Are you familiar with ambergris and its original usage in cologne/fragrance creation?”

yes.

used to find some on the beach after a hurricane/storm at low tide.
sold it for relatively big money back in the day…but now……
“You may not collect, keep, or sell ambergris because it is a part from an endangered marine mammal.”

Wow. Cool that you were able to discover it in the wild. On what shores did you find it? These days it seems with marine environmental problems and much awareness of ambergris value, odds in finding it is quite rare.

The “no collection” rule is rather ridiculous. This is not obtained from killing whales. It’s waste product just found floating about!

Bort reads Slate :innocent:

I heard somewhere that in an emergency, dried dung can be used for fire?? Yeah that’s right, I think it was Nat Geo about a tribe deep in the jungles. Any ways, I would assume one should also have cologne ready if using dung for fire? Phew! :innocent:
