Have you lost one of your favourite lights, and did you ever find it?

Sad week for me, somehow (I think in the house…) I lost my Acebeam TK16 copper - it was my 2nd favourite light.
Somewhere along the line a week or so before I did take all 4 of my best lights to work to show a couple of colleagues, so, I either lost it at work, someone pinched it from my bag, or I lost it at home.
I very much doubt anyone would have stolen it though - however it is a bit of a mystery otherwise. Worst bit is, as I have a bad memory I can’t remember if I brought it home or not (I am pretty sure I did though)!
I hope very much it turns up though, pretty well had the house apart over the last week looking for it lol!

You guys ever lost one of your lights or a favourite one, did it ever turn up?……. give me some hope please lol!

I gave the kids a few torches each - a 14500, S1 18350, S2+ 6x7135 and BLF A6. Daughter got the Sofirn SF10 - nothing fancy and I wouldn’t have missed it if she hadn’t lost it. Couldn’t find it anywhere. Turned her room upside down. Looked all over the house. EoL - no one sells it. A hole in my 14500 collection

6-12months later a fellow BLF member said the AloneFire X360 is exactly the same so I ordered it from AliE.

Within weeks my wife looked in the bottom draw of here jewellery ‘cabinet’ that has sat in daughters room for 5 minutes during a clean up and there it was!

Lol, I’m hoping that something similar will happen to me! I could swear I took mine to bed (not literally) and put it on our dressing table…… but after lots of looking no joy.
Wives have a canny knack for having ‘not seen’ said lost item, but when it turns up 90% of the time it is CERTAINLY in a place where only a wife would have left it, ie, somewhere their husband wouldn’t lol!
Probably the same visa versa!

Does a whole bag of lights count ?

Nothing is ever really lost .

The law of conservation of mass states that matter cannot be created or destroyed. So when someone helping you look for it asks what it looked like or how big it is ..they are simply trying to figure out the amount of energy you need to spend looking for it .Adding in the proper amount of frustration, the appropriate amount of yelling or screaming...Denial ..Anger. Bargaining...Depression...Acceptance....Weed

...Buying a new light .

I’m convinced my section of spacetime is chock-filled with micro-wormholes, as things I know I have disappear from where I (again) know I had them last, only to turn up in a completely different location weeks or even months later.

One time, though, my EDC disappeared right out of my pocket. Forgot if it was my MH20 or UC20 or even my ’502, as it was that long ago. Had my car at the shop for something routine, brought it home, and… where’s my light? Left front pocket, no way it could just drop out anywhere. Or could it? I rewalk the path from car to house, light up underneath the car, around the front of the house, nothing. Check inside the car, on the floor, between seat and floor, under the seat, everywhere, and still nothing.

So I call the shop and ask if anyone found a light. Ummm, nope. I walk over there, ask if he’d mind if I checked the area where my car was. Sure, go’head. Still nothing. Ach…

Anyway, I wrote off the light as gone. Figured that if anyone found it, they just kept it.

Almost a week later, I have to take something from the back of the car. And there it is, wedged between the seat and where the seatbelt is anchored, just off the floor, but behind the seatback. So it must have not just slipped out of my pocket, again, somehow, but slid back towards the rear of the car somehow, almost behind the seat itself.

LOL this is exactly how I fell into the rabbit hole of BLF;-) A friend gave me a Husky 3AAA multi-LED flashlight. Not much bigger than my old 2 AA maglite that I used to EDC. Hard for me to believe now but I really liked that light. Lost it on a motorcycle trip a decade ago now.

Nearly every light I got after coming here is far superior to that light but I really did like it! Several good flashlights later it turned up in a corner of the tent I hadn’t used or didn’t notice when I did. Glad I lost it now (except for all the lost $ since;-).

Had an early EDC favorite Trustfire something AA stolen from my car. I miss that but have much better again so no big deal.

Lost an Armytek Tiara and I am very bummed about that. Great light!

Yes. I had the greatest flashlight ever made and I think it may have gotten thrown out accidentally (!). There is a slight chance that it is rolling around in the other junk under my bed, but I doubt that, and I’m sort of resigned to trying to find another one once I can afford it. I’ve lost lots of other lights too, some of which had some personal significance, but which weren’t all that great in flashaholic terms and/or are fairly easy to replace. I have several lights that I think were milestones in flashaholic history and I had that awareness when I bought them, but I think there is not that much sentiment for such things in the community in general. I find myself figuring out how I might mod some of them to make them less outdated, which would have seemed unthinkable a while back.

IF I am quick, a shop in the Netherlands seems to still stock mine……….how long do I give myself to find mine lol! It had one of CRX’s glow gaskets in too……
NKON

I have misplaced my flashlights before, then eventually found them. One time I lost an AAA flashlight due to a hole in my pocket. The one time I sloppily decide NOT to clip it to my pocket (because it was a tight clip and I was a bit rushed), that small hole in my pocket widens enough to accommodate the cylinder shape of my AAA. It was a Thrunite Ti3. It was cheap, so it wasn’t a big loss. Sewed up the hole, of course.

But there’s one that’s missing now that has me quite pissed. An FW3A with a 18350 tube. It was originally purple but and been sanded down to raw aluminum, and I got it from a member as a gift. I made good use of it, until one day—gone. I’ve no idea where it went. I am a bit of a clutter bug and still have a couple possible places to scour, but locations out of home where I’ve been were thoroughly searched and turned up nothing. I had a nice GITD insert in it, a steel bezel added… and that ToyKeeper logo button too (purple edition). The only good thing is that it had a mediocre battery in it… The loss (hopefully it turns out temporary) prodded me to buy a copper FWAA, which I probably wouldn’t have bought otherwise. And I have to say, I’m glad I got that one. So maybe… in the end, it was a good thing.

I used to say that I didn’t lose anything. I either put it down somewhere and forget where I put it, or someone stole it from me. Lost things don’t grow legs and walk away. About 6 months ago I was working on my motorcycle out in my back yard in the middle of the day. I needed to see down in the motor so I walked inside and got my Titanium Boss 70 out of the curio cabinet. I NEVER take it out of there, but I thought I’ll put it right back. Used it and set it down beside the bike. Mistake, should have put it back in curio cabinet. An hour and a half later, I finished my bike and went for a test ride to a buddy’s house about 2 miles down the road. I got back and started picking up tools and couldn’t find my Boss. Looked all evening and the next day. I knew I had never left with it so it had to be there somewhere. A week and 2 rainstorms later I got in my truck and was going to my buddy’s house to tell him how sick I had been for the last week over losing a $400 flashlight. At the end of my road I came to a stop sign and pulled off and went over a big bump in the road and saw something silver on the side of the road. I almost kept going but I turned around for some reason and BINGO! there was my Boss. It had a couple of skint places on it, but still works fine, after 2 rainstorms and no telling how many cars ran over it. Moral to the story, never trust your memory if you aren’t a young whipper snapper. I had clipped my light to the outside of my pants pocket and didn’t remember doing it until I saw the light and I remembered clipping it to my pocket when I got on my bike and it fell off when I went over that bump. Long live the Boss!!!

Great story!

That’s the thing about items we own that are considered precious. Gotta have a solid predefined process of usage and stowage. Don’t deviate. But if you must deviate, make sure you take special notice. I sometimes have to say what I’m doing with the item to myself, so I have an “audible imprint” in my mind. I once lost a clip-on wallet that I clipped onto a cycling shirt. Normally I put it back with the clip on the outside, wallet on the inside. But this one time as I was distracted, I let my hand “autonomically” clip the wallet on… and the wallet was OUTSIDE the pocket. As I rode, I hit some bumps and… credit cards slipped out, landing in the road. I’d gone maybe a few miles when a car honked at me. “Buddy, something fell out of your shift pocket on the back. Landed in the road back there.” And then he continued on as a pulled over to the side. Yeah… pretty much EVERYTHING had slipped out. Two credit cards. A few 20’s. Driver’s license. Shopping discount cards. I turned around and rode like a madman, retracing my path and scanning furiously all over the roadside. Found the license. Found the cards (though one credit card had pockmarks from a car tire pressing it into the pavement). And the $80 worth of cash in 4 20’s… the wind had taken them over the road edge onto a grassy strip and sidewalk. I found $60… but the other $20 was nowhere to be found after an hour of roving around. Time ran out—had to cut my losses and go. Needless to say… I always pay extra attention to how I clip my wallet to my cycling shirt! Haven’t had another fault like this yet (4+ years now).

Good news! my wife found it, evidently it had dropped to the floor and rolled under the tv unit of all places! I literally was about to buy a new one too, lucky it’s the weekend and Nkon were closed or I would have lol!

It’s sometimes astonishing how a dropped item with any roll capability will find a very unpredictable path to follow and wind up well hidden from view. Attempts to replicate on purpose almost never work. But that sudden unpredictable drop? Somehow… that path to hiding is found!

I put an unprotected 10440 in one of my AAA twisties. But then I worried about it someday going poof in my pants pocket. So I put the light somewhere, and my mind blocked out the location. That was more than a year ago, and I still don’t know where it is! :frowning:

Indeed it is lol! now I just have to find the new head light I bought……I used it somewhere…….funny thing is I have my OLD one on my desk, not so worried about this one though and it could literally be anywhere as it’s a while since I used it.
Some great stories here, I liked the bike one, even told a couple of people chatting today!
Oh and xevious, since you were worried about it exploding, makes sense you put it somewhere safe, like the outhouse/garage.
