1. Get a new S2+ with the SST40 emitter, because that will come with a 12-mode 5A driver already soldered to the pill
2. Put 3x Nichia 219Bs on an mcpcb
3. Swap the SST40 emitter board with the triple Nichia one
First off the wires on the driver will be too short —- so you’ll have to remove the driver any way —- there use to be a guy selling all the different spacers and pills here on BLF—
What’s your overall goal with this project? Is it even worth the money when for a small amount more you can get an FW3A or FW4A with a discount code, and just reflow the factory MCPCB with 219B’s, or just get an Emisar D4V2 with the 219B’s? This was the cost breakdown that I came too,
$17.14 Convoy S2+ sst40 in black
$7.24 three bare 219B’s from Convoy
$3.04 triple 20mm MCPCB from Kaidomain
$1.20 silicone wire from Kaidomain
$12 for copper spacer from kiriba-ru, $4 spacer + $8 shipping
$3 optic
$43.62 total
FW3A or FW4A with a discount code $40, $7.34 for 3 or $8.38 for 4 bare 219B’s from Convoy, a total of $47.34 for an FW3A with reflowed 219B’s or $48.38 for an FW4A with reflowed 219B’s. An Emisar D4V2 with 219B’s is $50 shipped.
Exactly that. I already have one of these built by someone on here (merlot), however I’d like another one in a different colour and with the newer-style square threads so I want to learn to build them myself. Not really bothered about cost. They’ll make pretty cool birthday and xmas gifts too.
