SFN55.2, SFQ55, SFN60, SFQ60, SFS80 and SFH55 LED info

I tested the SFN55.2 in a NI03 and got near makes no difference 29 amps at probably 3.3-3.5 volts (6912 conservative Lumens) with the included 26800 battery. I’m thinking of trying a 30T to see if I can get more since I know that 26800 is really working hard at that drive current. Until someone officially tests one in a sphere to prove it, I’ll put my money on the table that the SFN55.2 will be as bright (or brighter) than a 70.2 with less power consumption. Take off the dome and it will be even less output.

Nice legwork Dave! I am excited to see more of these high power Chinese emitters in flashlights. Hopefully we can get some data sheets soon.

There’s a new custom red led on kaidomain as well. I’m trying to get Simon to fit it into the Convoy H1

I would also be reticent regarding LED lifespan… until this is verified by a trusted 3rd party.

For some reason, the luminous area values in that chart seem to be way off for at least some of the emitters.
SFT70 = 6.25 mm²
XHP35HI = 5.8 mm²
SFS80 = 5.2 mm²

Interestingly, the lm/mm² values seem mostly in line with values in my tables. Two wrongs make a right?

Thanks! This is great.

From the image, these ones are discontinued or will be soon:

  • SFS80
  • SFQ60
  • SFN60
  • SFQ75

The chart also has some 11mm * 11mm LEDs, like the SBT90.2 but more floody:

  • SFH55 14200 lm!
  • SFH43P 8900 lm
  • SFH40 8000 lm

We need to find a cell that can handle 62A for the SFH55

3x21700 should do it!

Probably should just use a car battery

LOL.

Im really torn on buying this new FT03 (mateminco version) with the SFN55.2

Can anyone who has a light with one of these LED's share any information? is it interesting / WOWing / fun? I have all three LED variations of the FT03 (one with SFT40 not sst40), any reason i should even be considering the SFN55.2 version?

If so, better to run a Molicel P42a or one of the QB26800 batteries i have laying around? I would need to buy another battery tube though, thats another $10.. thats $60 for an FT03 that does (7000?) lumens. Is that compelling? I don't know.

Well, if the NI03 is any indication of performance to the ft03, I say get it. You won’t be sorry. I don’t think the heat sinking is as good though on the ft03 so your duty cycle on higher modes will be lower. Use the 26800. I really like that cell and it’s probably diminishing returns to use a P42A.

That’d do it!

Other option is LiPo cells, which can often discharge at 100C. With a 5Ah cell that’s 500A!

LiPo has some major cons over LiIon but I don’t see why there aren’t hotrods that use them.

My NI03 Valkyrie with SFN55.2 has arrived in the US.

Tempted by the ft03, but they didn’t offer 26800, and I love nightwatch fins/knurling.

As long as their aren’t weird colors to the beam, I think I’ll like it a lot. I don’t have an SBT90.2 to compare to…

You will like it. Good beam also. 100 times better than xhp50/70.2 and throws great.

Pretty excited. Wish it would show up before this weekends trip.

I hope to use it boating. I have tried so many lights for the range inside an aspheric thrower. We will see. I will try to get pictures, probably October though.

Kaidomains Custom P35 SFS80 4000K version can’t take the 8 amps that they tell it should. I fried one, reflowed the second one with more care and it also fried at 8A.

Bummer. Maybe you got a bad bin or something. Warm white emitters can’t take the same current as CW ones anyway.

Received my nightwatch valkyrie. Great flashlight. The sfn55.2 has a great beam shape in this (op reflector) light. I’m impressed. I would definitely prefer 5000k, but I’m impressed by the emitter. I might buy the same light with sbt90 just to compare, I do think I’d prefer the beam shape of the sfn55.2 based on beamshots from the web and using this light. The spill is very bright, sort of reminds me of a TIR.

Astrolux have just listed a light with the SFS80 LED:

Astrolux® A03 SFS80 LED 800LM Powerful 14500/AA

I ordered a P35 3v 4000k emitter and a P70 6v 6500k emitter today from Kaidoman with my other leds. Looking forward to both! they both look domeless, hoping the P35 competes with the sft40 but in 4000k!
