I’d completely forgotten about this one… Thought it looked like a good pairing. Both of those actors are so quirky and controversial. Weird how it went from mind blowing to not worth it, in the span of just one season. What went wrong?
S1 was amazing, ’til Sorbocles got his mitts into it, then it went to shiite.
I still watched it in desperation, hoping it’d get back on track and get better, but nope. Warlords and barfights and random badguys grunting, turned it into H:TLJ-in-space.
S1 was actually intellectual, and subsequent seasons got dumbed down to the point of being insulting. I could almost feel my IQ dropping point by point by point.
I’d read the book many years ago and felt “meh” about it… so never gave the series a look. Felt better rewatching Star Trek. Yeah, from what you describe I could see it having a negative mental drain. Unfortunate when this happens… all that money thrown to waste.
Just like the Lost In Space reboot. So much potential. But the Dr. Smith bit… with Parker Posey of all people… very bad choice.
Garage People. I flicked over to BBC 4 last night and this was on. I was mesmerised, thought I was watching an art movie, but it’s a nicely filmed and fascinating documentary on the real lives of these people in Northern Russia. If you can, find the whole documentary but here is the trailer.
I’m addicted to Animal Kingdom. I think I’m going to rewatch Dexter before the new season comes out. Also getting caught up on the Expanse. Looks insane on a 150 inch screen
I recently started binging ‘See’ the one with Jason Momoa and now Bautista in it. Pretty interesting - post-apocalyptic setting where all of humanity has lost sight for many centuries.
I think the writing and acting is so superb. I just wish they weren’t so slow to produce it. And now, a Season 5 is a vague possibility. The two lead actors, Cumberbatch and Freeman, would love to do it. It’s just a matter of all the logistical things working out with everyone’s contracts on other concerns.
There are some shows that I’m really looking forward to. New seasons of Dexter and Ray Donovan. There’s also a Sopranos prequel that I just heard about today: The Many Saints of Newark (2021) - IMDb
Westworld started out really amazing, despite the repetition being drawn out. I liked the way it developed… until the start of Season 3. The whole foundation of the series shifted. Lots of plausibility that was built up was thrown aside. A major letdown. I still enjoyed a good bit of Season 3, but I’m wary of what will transpire in Season 4.
