Are these Illumn 14500s flat or button?

Illumn is slow to answer. Has anyone bought this particular 14500 from Illumn? The length is listed as 48.0mm which is flat top length, but it’s also listed as button top.

50.8 mm. It’s a button top. I have a bunch. Good cell.

Thanks! Illumn replied and said “oops it’s actually 53mm” and updated their listing to say 53mm. That doesn’t seem right either for an unprotected button top 14500… :person_facepalming:

Did you buy yours from Illumn? I’m being particular here because a Manker E05 won’t take long cells but does require buttons.

I have an E05 and use that exact cell. No worries, it works just fine.

I love those cells. Buy as many as you can afford. :money_mouth_face:

Same in my E05. High resistance compared to H10

Yes, Illumn. Not sure how they’re measuring their stock, but unless mfg has changed in the last 8 months, no way my caliper is off by 2mm. Regardless, as others have stated, you’re GTG with this cell in your Manker. Enjoy!!

I've found Illumn's measurements to be off several times. It's a great cell, and if memory serves my measurement was about the same as TlFisher's here. I don't know that it would matter in that particular light at 400 lumens but you might consider the newer purple L10 version as well. It has lower resistance and the same nice capacity as the gold ones. The H10 isn't a benefit here but the L10 might be a tad (maybe not enough to notice). Stock has been really spotty this year but Liion has these as well. I hope Vapcell is able to keep the quality and availability up on these, all three models...they really are excellent.

That’s what I ended up doing. Ordered four L10 instead. At around 2 amps, where most my 14500 lights are anyway, the L10 has the edge, and is slightly cheaper than the Gold if I ordered four :money_mouth_face: I don’t currently (read: YET) have any 14500 lights that would take advantage of the H10, and the button-top was OOS at Illumn anyway. And yeah I noticed their length measurement are wrong on several other listings…

Thanks as always to HKJ for the research that’s needed to make these decisions.

HKJ's comparator is hands down the most useful page/tool I think I've ever come across, and I love that he's still cranking out tests all the time even after so many years of it.
