** BLF LT1M-Mini Project - The little Lantern! ( PM's sent today June 21, 2022)**

I just got here, have some interest, looked at OP and last couple pages but can’t really tell the current design phase or the goals. Is it too late to ask for specific features? 1) include a timing crystal on the board, so that the light can accurately turn itself on at a particular time; 2) include some kind of external connection. A computer port might be too fancy but a simple pair of contacts that are in parallel with the pushbutton switch would allow operating the light remotely and this would be a win, both from being able to use the lantern as a room light and for configurating Anduril from a computer.

There is at least 1 other thread asking for lights that turn on at sunrise, so multiple people definitely want a timing feature, the crystal is maybe a 5 cent part, and unlike a flashlight I hope the lantern is not terribly cramped for PCB space. So I support including it.

Has the CPU been chosen and what will it be? Will the lantern have enough heat sinking / radiators to be able to run long periods at 1000+ lumens without getting too warm? (A lantern should do that, it is not a flashlight after all). Will it be able to run on external power instead of battery power? Maybe at this point it becomes a lamp instead of a lantern, but I haven’t been able to find any programmable lamps with high CRI. Thanks!

Interested in 1! Just got the big brother LT1 and it’s the first lantern I’ve ever seen that actually lights without blinding. Amazing through and through. I’m excited for this mini version!

Definitely interested!

Put me down for 5, please (I have nieces and nephews who like my LT1 and would get a kick out of owning a mini version!)

Ive resisted long enough, with a clear conscience I can say, put me down for 1 please.

Please add me to the list for quantity (FOUR) lights. Every BLF light I’ve purchased has been a smashing success and I’m sure this project will be no different.

interested ty for all the wk making this

I’ve long admired the BLF LT1 as I watched it unfold starting 4 years ago. I hesitated to buy when the 1st version went live, as my lightning needs really didn’t urgently call for it (I use Matt Smith’s ice cream plastic tub solution). I also wanted to wait for the USB-C to USB-C version. Then as that was coming out, the power bank version was soon to follow, so I waited. And then, the changing of driver boards started to happen. So after all that wait, I decided to go with a v1 LT1. I was OK with getting Anduril v1. Yet, as luck would have it, I managed to get a USB-C to USB-C version that also has Anduril v2. My impressions of this light are very high. I missed the summertime use, but wow… the LT1 is such a wonderful design. I like everything about it.

TLDR; sign me up for the LT1M!

I added you but as a FYI you already signed up on 6/22/2020 (post 584) and 7/17/2021 (post 1055)

Sign me up for 3

Oh man, have I got a fault with my memory lately. Sorry, SIG. :person_facepalming:

No problem

It only takes a few seconds to run the insert statement and about the same to search my database by name. I’ll leave you in for all 3 in case you want them

Update [2021-09-27]

Courtesy by Sofirn, some actual pictures of the new LT1M mini prototype. So far, LT1M mini will be using LH351D 2700K 90CRI and LH351D 5000K 90CRI, same as LT1. The idea to have red light included needs to be postponed as Andúril 2 is not yet capable of tint ramping with three channels (NW + WW + RED). LT1M mini works with 26650, 18650 (via adapter) and unprotected 21700 batteries.

26650?

No offense, but I am less enthusiastic than before.

Both the LT1-team on BLF and Sofirn agreed upon a wider tube for following reasons:

  • 26650 tube width adds more stability against tip over; the size ratio of length and width is more appropriate
  • 26650 tube width adds more flexibility for battery standard sizes (21700, 18650 and 26650)
  • 26650 tube width allows to use common 3xAAA battery carriers for emergency use

Just because there are good things about 26650 lights, that doesn't mean that there aren't bad things about 26650 lights, as everyone knows.

I may just pass on this 26650 light because I hate 26650 lights with a passion.

Hmmm, my impression sofar was that the LTmini would be based on a 21700 battery, in fact a modified Sofirn IF25. Although more useful to me would be even smaller, a 18650 lantern would be ideal for me, instead it has grown to 26650 size now. That makes the size advantage over the LT1 quite a bit less, and makes me less interested too.
