I cannot order these from Aliexpress as shipping to me is over $50. They have shown up on BG at prices considerably higher then Aliexpress, also the BLF 9% discount code is not working. Lately BG prices have gotten high and you have to have a discount code to bring the prices down close to other sellers. Guess I’ll have to wait.
I like it a lot The led centering is perfect, there is a black centering gasket with letters “palight”, I wonder what do they mean. The led is similar (the same?) to the best (tint wise) SST-40 available from Convoy. The beam is very clean, bare bezel does not reflect too much light, the purple glow from AR coating is also minimal. The AR coating is different than on the D80v2, it reflects purple this time.
The flashlight is surprisingly small, the head diameter is the same as C8, but in the hand it feels smaller than C8. Machining is good, there are some rough edges on the head and around the hole for a lanyard. The button could be better, it feels plasticky, but I like the amount of pressure it needs to click.
The manual states the lowest level is 21/150. I tried 18 and it’s super low but flickers like a candle mode, 19 is usable moonlight level. Below this level the led is off.
The button aux brightness is low enough for my needs. Strangely aux is off when main led is on, which is the opposite from other anduril lights.
I believe palight has become WildTrail. Same MCPCB/centering piece palight branding with the BLF D80V2 from WildTrail.
It's possible if those LED's exist, unfortunately they don't, not yet anyways, but doubt they will. The SST-40 never went high CRI, and 5000K was the lowest.
I asked WildTrail today. WT1M and WT3M with SFT40 will not happen anytime soon. They used up all of their Lexel drivers for these two models. But I can assure you that they will soon launch a separate pocket thrower with SFT40. More details will follow in a separate promotion thread.
Concerning SFT40 in general: Lumintop‘s (preliminary) datasheet specifies 5000K and 6500K 70CRI only. I do not expect them to offer anything warmer or with better color rendition. Maybe Getian will be able to offer any HighCRI 3V LEDs that compete with SFT40.
Thanks Tom! This light is tempting me. I really just can’t justify a floody low cri light right now. Was thinking of swap options, predictably for me that means the Angie Quad. Looks like we don’t have enough height (but its close) or mcpcb diameter. I’m pretty sure the optic legs require just about 30mm.
Getian HiCRI is acceptable. Something with a single die in the 4-5mm² would be really nice. While this obviously fits within a 3535, I think we need something 5050 3V first. The LH351D underperforms for it’s die size, and the flip chip really kills throw. 1700lm from a single die peaking around 8 or 9A should be the target IMO.
G_damian - thanks again for great pictures and your thoughts on this new light! I know pictures are hard to determine LED tint- but that sst40 Didn't DOES LOOK really nicely tinted! Like the one I got from convoy this spring in my m21a, there is a pic of it in my sft40 thread comparison shots here https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/66979/8 .
The machining and finish looks really nicely done and I'm excited for mine. Speaking of which...
my has hit the US! It looks like it is in customs, hoping to see it next week! Now I'm regretting not ordering the triple too while I was at it..
Yes please! To the 5050 Getian "no dome" 3volt led in 3000k, 4000k!
I would order 20 right off the bat - for Astrolux multi emitter xhp50 lights (ec03, ea01s, ft02s) and then others like this WildTrail. That would be so awesome. The Astrolux ec03 with domeless 3000k leds would instantly become one of my favorite lights!
