Emisar D3AA is available now

Nice to hear that, I’m still deciding how much current to use for B35AR. What is the brightness when you drive it at 2A? And which optic/reflector for B35AR?

AM would be preferable since efficiency of a boost converter is higher at 1S>6V vs 1S>12V, but I assume AR was chosen so that the same 12V boost driver for XHP35 can be used.

Regarding current handling, on a MCPCB with high thermal conductivity dielectric and thick copper pours it is reasonably good (7.6W/m.K, 3oz pours):

But those high perf MCPCBs might be cost prohibitive.

Sorry Hank but i’m still waiting for meassurement tool to come but it’s bright as xhp35 to my eyes.

But AR is available only in R9050 version only. Wouldn’t it be better to get AM version which is R9080?

At the moment i’m using B35AM in Convoy S21A with stock reflector and 3535 gasket which was trimmed a bit cause B35 is 3636 or 3737 format. Gonna try next weekend with TIR and report which is better.

Ledil Olga RS produces a very nice beam with it IMO, what optic size are you considering ?

Nice suggestion, we will use R9080 B35AM LED then.

You’re the best, Hank.

The collaboration in the above few posts puts a big smile on my face!

Any cost associated with maximizing thermal performance at the mcpcb is well worth it. I’d gladly pay an extra 2 or 3 dollars per light to keep these Nichias cool. 3oz copper pour over the whole board and the thinnest dielectric should be sought out.

You won’t find me disagreeing with that  , I also think that people will be very pleased with the B35A so this is worth it.

Just a note: AM is 6V emitter where AR is 12V.

I have both and they can take serious current. I’ll send some info over email next weekend.

What thefreeman and JaredM said, this emitter will be WOW as i’m now in my builds. You won’t regret it paying extra bucks for every quality component!

Olga is a nice optic, and LEDIL is a generally a good choice IMO. The Olga RS will probably be the best for SFT and maybe XHP35 HI where absolute max cd is the goal, but for the SST40 and B35, check out the Gaggione LLC25N. It’s a similar sized optic without any injection sprue so the bezel / oring design and machining will be simplified. This line of optics is color mixing and doesn’t project a ghost image of the emitter in the corona. Cd/lm is on par with the Olga RS for larger emitters , both offering about 14cd/lm for the B35.

If any 1mm² or 2mm² Osrams or Cree emitters are also offered, I’m not sure who offers the best cd/lm and clean beam in the ~30mm optic range. The Gaggione LLC05N is rated at ~145cd/lm for the 1mm² flats which is impressive IMO.

Yeah I have a few Gagionne lenses on my wishlist, still haven’t ordered yet because the shipping is expensive despite same country shipping :frowning: , I’ll add this one.

I don’t see any ghost image of the LED with the Olga though. I’ll take a pic once I have installed it in a light.

This is sounding great, especially with the LED.

Hank, can you say roughly how big the head diameter will be? I’m picturing this as about 40mm but I could be completely wrong.

I hope it’ll be less honestly. We have girthy models already, let’s make a slimmer one

Yeah, slimmer would be good. The KR1 is 35mm though, so this new thrower would probably be at least that wide.

Head diameters:

  • D4V2 28mm
  • KR4 29mm
  • KR1 35mm
  • D1 35mm
  • D4S 39mm
  • D1S 50mm
  • K9.3 52mm
  • D18 58mm
  • K1 72mm

Loneoceans used an Olga in his awesome KR1 mod. << Lume X1: 40W Single-Cell Boost Driver with Anduril2 and UDR >>

I would really love to see it be no wider than the KR1, and possibly narrower. I’ve been wanting a Noctigon FW1A for a long time. Something I can comfortably carry all the time.

This looks awesome, though:

D1V2 size would be nice, but a bit thicker since it’ll use 21700.

If it could take auxiliary lights and also house Getian FC40 that would be awesome!
