Can’t read English subtitles?

If they have ‘em. On my teevee, though, the captions at the bottom are so microscopically small as to be nigh useless. I’d be squinting at the caps to the point I’d miss what’s going on on the screen.

CC helped me with the
dialect during these shows:

1. The Sopranos.
2. Honey Boo-Boo.
3. Everybody Hates Chris.

What do you think of it? I know practically nothing, other than it has garnered 20 Emmy nominations and is the brain child of Jason Sudeikis, an SNL alum.

ted lasso is one of those rare shows where you tell yourself out loud 'dang i like that character!' and you do so for every character appearing

I saw my first two episodes of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

I've been watching late night talk shows since the early 1990s, and Last Week Tonight is one of the best late night talk shows that I have seen.

(It's also the most intense late night talk show that I've seen.)

I can see why it has won so many Emmys.

I plan to watch every episode, unless I somehow get sick of the show.

Westworld started out really amazing, despite the repetition being drawn out. I liked the way it developed… until the start of Season 3. The whole foundation of the series shifted. Lots of plausibility that was built up was thrown aside. A major letdown. I still enjoyed a good bit of Season 3, but I’m wary of what will transpire in Season 4.

Agreed I loved seasons 1 and 2 but the 3rd one is too PC / feminist / #PoundMeToo

Animal kingdom is incredible and Goliath is maybe an 8 out of 10 for me

John Oliver is brilliant. I think he's the best "talk show host" out there, in terms of helpfulness to society. He takes on real problems, gives a thorough analysis, colors it with humorous bits, and really does not relent. I think a lot of his content is reference worthy. Some have scoffed "well, he's a comedian, so good luck with that," but no, he's more than a comedian. He's a political analyst as well. I've been watching him on/off for a few years. Thankfully a lot of his content is free online. I intend to review a number of his greatest hits!

MEANWHILE, just got into season 5 of "The Blacklist." Wow, a very major turn of events. They've gotten sloppy with some episodes. Tragically so. But it still carries. I'm determined to watch all the way to the end. Season 8 is coming out this month!

Agreed. John Oliver is awesome.

Recently I watched the first 2 episodes of Foundation on Apple TV. Very impressive.

I saw the season premiere of Saturday Night Live.

The opening skit has a bunch of comedians playing a bunch of politicians.

New cast member James Austin Johnson stars in the skit, and his performance was absolutely terrible.

It was so bad it practically ruined the skit.

Luckily the rest of the show was great, and James Austin Johnson did a fine job in other skits.

Whoever thought that he should do that impression in the opening skit really screwed up, though.

I really hope they choose someone else to do that impression.

Yup. It’s a TV adaptation of Isaac Asimov’s classic book series. Very high production values.

I tried but have issues with the exaggerated acting. I think it’s for a younger generation than mine. If I run at out stuff to watch I might watch episode 2…

I watched the first episode of The Problem With Jon Stewart. It was about burn pits on military bases causing cancer and how the VA is not covering the ailments caused by breathing the smoke. He was big on a similar topic concerning 911. I’ll give it a chance to get going since The Daily Show was one of my favorites.

I watched the first three episodes of season 1 of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver.

They are very good, and not overly intense like the first two episodes of season 7 that I saw.

My sister and niece have seen a couple of episodes of Squid Game, and they really like it so far.

I plan to start watching it maybe this week.

I think I'll watch it with English dubbing, and English subtitles.

(The show is originally in Korean.)

Squid Game with English dubbing; the voices actors match up. It’s a very engaging show, great cinematography. I got attached to some of the characters, a certain episode is really gut wrenching.

Binged Star Trek Lower Decks S1 & S2. Much much better than I was expecting. The smartass sense of humor suits me far too well.

It’s also hilariously accurate about how lower enlisted in RL tends to view the world.

regarding the Squid Game with “dubbing” or “voice-overs”:

The next time you see a movie or TV show that was dubbed from a foreign language,
the voices you hear may not belong to actors who rerecorded dialogue in a sound booth.
In fact, they may not belong to actors at all.
