MATERMINCO TK04

Hi

I dropped my MATEMINCO TK04 and when I press the switch it does not respond.
The blue switch light is on.
Can anyone help?

“does not respond” the LED stays off, no matter what you do?

This light has Anduril-UI, click and hold and it should ramp the LED up, double click for Turbo mode.
If that doesn’t work, the switch might be dead.

I think it less likely that the drop caused the switch itself to break. Most likely the problem is a broken solder joint.

If you have soldering skills you might want to open it up and look for loose wires or parts.

Some things to check:

  • Shake the light around before opening…. listen for the sound of any loose parts rattling around.
  • When opening the light, check carefully for any loose parts that may have popped off the driver.
  • The driver wires to the star should all be connected.
  • The switch wires to the driver should all be connected. If the switch is integrated onto the driver board check for broken solder joints.
  • Check the main LED to make sure that it is still in position and didn’t pop off the star, and that no solder blobs from it are shorting to the reflector.
  • Use a magnifying glass and check all solder joints inside the light.

I can’t open the driver compartment.

For that kind of light, it looks like you’ll need to press out the driver from the from front. Push the driver wires into the driver compartment, then insert something thin and rigid into the holes to press out the driver. Try a round toothpick or a narrow metal pick.

Note that there is some risk with this kind of operation.

  • If the driver is glued, it might not come out unless you hammer it with a punch to break the glue.
  • The tool pressing on the driver might damage or knock loose components on the driver board. That said, I’ve done this kind of operation on lights before and not damaged them.
