H1-A 20mm Driver Copper Damage??

I just got my order in from Kaidomain and it looks like there's some damage on the outer/side copper contacts for the driver. Does the driver look useable and do I need to file the ragged part out and make it smooth? I also noticed part of the copper contact has come off. So is thee driver good to go after some cosmetic touch up?

On a side note, I got this driver for the XHP 50.2 3000K for tinkering and I also got the Nichia 219BT 4500K CRI92.

It does look strange, but the spring side looks good which is more important. I would just file down both of those areas.

It should work fine, but if it doesn’t then you would have a legitimate reason to file a complaint with Kaidomain. Else it may just be considered cosmetic and you would probably then need to pay to return it for another.

I think it looks ok but it’s hard to see in the shadows of that little black resistor/shunt/capacitor thing up there at 11:30-12 o’clock. I’d just be sure those traces weren’t torn or damaged. The rough nibs can be filed or sanded off if they’re in the way (sometimes leaving a little bit proud can aid in a snug fit if need be). If you can rig up a battery/clips to test it outside of a flashlight that might save you a little time and hassle if the driver is actually bad (very brief tests unless you have cooling for the led/star).

Tinker time!

Okay and thanks for the info on it and regarding Kaidomain, I’ll hold off contacting them and see how it goes when I wire it up. Yeah, it does look cosmetic here up close so should be good to go. I’m really interested in this combo with the XHP 3000k plus the driver too.

Yeah, the traces on the dark end all look good, and shiny. I’m gonna file and clean things out a bit and rig it up to test and see what’s up. I just have to get ready for the blast of WW when it lights up! :+1: My only other two XHP 50.2 led are both 6000K so this one should be nice indeed!
