[Review] Convoy L7 || 2 x 26650 , Luminus SBT90.2 || Full Power Regulation For All Output Modes! || Beamshots

The flashlight was sent to me by the Convoy store for review.

The flashlight comes in a normal cardboard box.
It's seated into some foam for added protection during shipping.



The Convoy L7 comes with a matte black anodization.



The overall fit and finish is excellent.



A square knurling pattern is applied on the its body for increased grip.



The L7 is dual switch operated.
A mechanical forward-clicky switch is available at the tail of the flashlight.
This switch is responsible for managing the power on/off/momentary of the flashlight.



Additionally, an e-switch is placed on the bottom part of the head.
The switch provides a nice tactile feedback and is secured in place via a metal ring.



A lightly crenulated bezel is in place to protect the glass lens.



The head houses a smooth reflector and a Luminus SBT90.2 emitter.
As can be seen, the centering of the emitter is excellent.



Similarly to all Convoy flashlights, the L7's head can be easily disassembled.



The emitter's MCPBC is held from rotating using two screws.
Plenty of thermal paste has been used during the installation of the PCB board.



The driver is using a brass tab as the positive terminal.
It's set in place using a brass ring.



Both threads of the flashlight are very cleanly cut.
The tail threads are anodized, which allows the flashlight to get mechanically locked out.



Looking at the tail, we can see a thick copper spring which is held in place via a retainer ring.

The L7 also comes with a cigar grip that can be easily installed between the body and tail.



My L7 arrived with two LiitoKala 26650 cells.
Simon also includes two extra PCBs that can be used to improve the contact between two flat top cells.



User Interface

The Convoy L7 is dual switch operated and comes with a nice and simple user interface.
Here's all the supported actions from the flashlight's firmware.

Power on/off: Single press (rear switch)
Momentary on: Half press (rear switch)
Mode cycle: Single press (Low > Medium > High > Turbo > Low > ...) (e-switch)
Strobe: Double press (e-switch)

Mode memory is present.
Low Voltage Warning and Low Voltage Protection are also present.


Output

Here's my output measurements along with the current draw for each output level.



As we can see, the Convoy L7 is able to push 5202 lumen while drawing 9.01A. Excellent output, especially for a thrower.

Power Regulation

Here's my power regulation graph for the Convoy L7.

What we can see in the graph:

  • All of the output modes are fully regulated
  • Turbo steps down to Low at 6.3V
  • High and Medium steps down to Low at 6.0V
  • The flashlight will turn off at 5.6V as part of its Low Voltage Protection function.

As you can see, the Convoy L7 presents full regulation among all of its modes. This is really impressive!

As we can see, the Convoy L7 displays great throw while delivering a great amount of output.

Bottom Line

As always with Convoys, the build quality is excellent.
Thanks to the Luminous SBT90.2 emitter, the flashlight delivers great throw and performance.
I was especially impressed by the great power regulation demonstrated by the flashlight's driver.

At Simon’s Convoy flashlight Store in Ali Express, I have bought two sets of mini-extension tubes. They add interesting features to my L7, L6 and M3. Highly recommended.

It don’t only throw, the beam looks like the Lincoln tunnel in front of you.

Agree L7 is awesome and do more runtime by adding 2 tube extender and 26800 battery..
