SFN55.2, SFQ55, SFN60, SFQ60, SFS80 and SFH55 LED info

Kaidomains Custom P35 SFS80 4000K version can’t take the 8 amps that they tell it should. I fried one, reflowed the second one with more care and it also fried at 8A.

Bummer. Maybe you got a bad bin or something. Warm white emitters can’t take the same current as CW ones anyway.

Received my nightwatch valkyrie. Great flashlight. The sfn55.2 has a great beam shape in this (op reflector) light. I’m impressed. I would definitely prefer 5000k, but I’m impressed by the emitter. I might buy the same light with sbt90 just to compare, I do think I’d prefer the beam shape of the sfn55.2 based on beamshots from the web and using this light. The spill is very bright, sort of reminds me of a TIR.

Astrolux have just listed a light with the SFS80 LED:

Astrolux® A03 SFS80 LED 800LM Powerful 14500/AA

I ordered a P35 3v 4000k emitter and a P70 6v 6500k emitter today from Kaidoman with my other leds. Looking forward to both! they both look domeless, hoping the P35 competes with the sft40 but in 4000k!

Thinking of ordering one w/SFN55.2. I'll ask Neal for his best deal, and if it's in stock.

Do you still like/recommend it?

Definitely. It’s one of the more well-rounded lights in my collection. It’s only missing a buck+FET to make it spectacular. I mean a sub 60 mm reflector that throws over 700 m with a huge 7070 LED and 7000 lumens? Oh yah. Nothing else with a single LED and battery comes close. Plus PD charging and power bank sweetens the deal.

Just ordered the Astrolux ft03 mini with sfs80 claimed 1650lm & 720m throw! Sounds like a brighter CULPM1 to me!

My green OSRAM version of the FT03 mini does 910 meters, though at 900 lumens. Does the 720m compare well with a Boost HX? The Boost HX is still expensive as well.

My 4000K versions of SFS80 couldn’t sustain 8A. Two burned immediately and on a third one phosphor first bubbled and then fall off during routine reflow.

unfortunately I never put the HX in the FTO three mini, but you're right I think it would be more like 900 m going off of what the numbers are for a c8. I also have a p35 coming from kaidomam.com, Going to see how that does this too but I think that might be the same or better better

Not entirely sure these belong in this thread - But i just received the "P70" 6500k (6volt i believe), and the "P35" 4000k 80CRI (3volt !) from kaidoman.com :)) here are a couple quick pics, still figuring out which lights i want to throw these in. Bth of them are domeless HI versions.

Thinking a Emisar D1 for the p35 4000k (i have a couple D1 now and have been looking for a led to put in one). and thinking the Convoy M21e for the P70. Any thoughts?

*EDIT: its "too bad" (my own fault) I just sold my acebeam e70 xhp70 version, would've liked to seen this P70 in that little guy!

The listing for the P35 says

So they appear to be from the same manufacturer.

http://kaidomain.com/Custom-P35-HI-3V-8000mA-1800-Lumens-LED

The P70 doesn’t give much information but I assume it’s one of the others.

Interested to see how they perform.

P35 4000K’s seem to be quite fragile. I have one in Convoy S2+ with 5A driver and it works fine. I tried to build Convoy thrower with 8A driver and I burned two of them. During reflow the phosphor has started to bubble few times and then it peels off. Now I know that you have to be extra careful with them.

It’s best to test with a power supply the threshold of any LED. Had a surprise with CULPM1.TG from Yinding. Angry blue at 8 Amps, toned it down to about 6 ½ A.

Yeah, I thought I didn’t even push it hard with 8A. That is what Kaidomain’s specs said it should withstand. Seems like at least the 4000K version doesn’t.

Bummer to burn out a led. But this adds to the mystery of why some of my Yindings work at 8 A while others are screaming in pain. Poor QC?

thanks for info guys. i will be careful reflowing. i had major issues with (2) xpl-hi 2850k while reflowing recently, that one seems fragile, more so than any other xpl-hi I've reflowed, unless it was a bad batch (bought a couple months ago from Hank).

-> major issues where the top layer delaminating from the base. never saw that before, i didn't heat up hotplate anymore than normal. It sucked. The white base seemed weak and chipped too.

I wouldnt try putting 8amps through a 3535 led anyway, unless i knew it was capable, but since i know nothing about the P35 i will keep it around 6a, thanks for that info!

Think im gong to try it in a m21c, 6amp driver

Apologies Dave1010, didn't even notice it said (sfs80) in the P35 description...

Astrolux now have the FT03 Mini with SFS80

For comparison, specs for the same host, from throwy LED to floody LED:

  • W1 510 lm and 860m throw
  • SFS80 1620 lm and 720m throw
  • SST40 2300 lm and 583m throw
  • XHP50.2 4200 lm and 452m throw

Would be interesting to see how it compares to an Osram W2/Boost HX, CREE XHP35 and Luminus SFT40/SFT70.

Got this in from Neal, no doc on it. XHP70.2, MT-G2, and the BIG LED, SFH55:

16 LED's in one?

Same dims but the dye surface sure looks tiny on that SBT90.2:

So from that previous list of LED's, which one could it possibly be? Only one possible, the SFH55
