Lightbar Headlamp

Ran across this the other day.
Seems kind of expensive for what you get, but sure looks like it could be the ultimate floody.
Naturally no info about the battery pack, voltages, or LED types. Looks like a LED Strip on plastic Velcro-ed onto an elastic strap.

All the Best,
Jeff

Nice collar for a dog.

No one remembers the Hurkins Orbit headlamp?

Similar design, but 2 different types of LEDs (front vs sides), and a finger-dial thingy (like a tuning knob on a stereo) to dial in the brightness you wanted.

Worked pretty nicely except for a yellow strip of light at the top/bottom edge

Someone kinda poopooed it for not being waterproof, and I get that, but for around the house, it was the ultimate mule.

Ah, found it…

And yeah, cutting a striplight into a dog-collar (just enough to glow, not light up all of creation) would be pretty good.

LB, This one sure looks like a re-boot of the one you linked to.
Would like to see how it does indoors as a floody. Not going to jump for the kind of money they want for it though.
I wonder if the PWM is just as nasty on the new version.

My fav indoor floody is a SuperTiger I got for like $18 from Amazon a few years ago. the $18 included a good 18650 and a USB power supply. It’s got a curved COB that puts out a nearly perfect 180 degree wide flood. Better than a single LED mule.
Only 150 or so lumens on high, but that’s plenty for up close work.

Unfortunately it’s been replace with something else that isn’t as good.
I figured that would happen and got 4 of them before they disappeared. Like that Tacklife beasty that was only around for a few weeks or so. Wish I had picked up a few of those to give away.
All the Best,
Jeff

Mmm, yeah I hear ya, which is why I sometimes go overboard and get multiples of things, so I don’t end up kicking myself later if they run out.

Love the Tacklife with diffusion film to hide the evil beam from that hateful little G3 inside, and with the film it makes an all-around great house-light. My only grex (well, aside from the UI) is that output drops rather dramatically, rather fast. I figure if it’s that noticeable, then it’s a lot.

I like my RJ02s with a wider-angle TIR lens. If I wanted an even wider and smoother beam, I imagine I could always add some diffusion film to that, too. Also got the Dwhatever with the 2 TIRs in front. Hate the C-clamp mounts, though, much prefer the rubber loops of the RJ02.

I got myself one of these a few days ago:

I really like the concept. Amazing flood to work with cars and such. It’s very bright at start up. I don’t mind cool white or poor CRI for this price.

After three minutes or so light starts to dim slightly. Probably to prevent uncomfortable heat. Nothing wrong with that. BUT guess the problem. Low frequency PWM. I’m sensitive to flickering and prone to get migraines. Therefore this light is useless for me.

I’m considering modding it with better driver some day (and with replaceable 21700 cell I think). But meanwhile if any of you have first hand experience with some other model without visible flickering please let me know.

Just ordered another one. 淘宝网 - 淘!我喜欢 (feel free to call me a fool)

I hope it comes with improved driver. At least on the video demonstration it doesn’t have flickering, we will see if that’s true.

Another nice feature is the tiltable led strip. Basic model wastes some of the light upwards where you can’t directly see it. Less heat output to forehead too.

how about….$9?

Most of the time when I’m wearing a headlight I’ve got it pointed down at 45° or 60° almost always somewhere less than 90°. It seems to me that most of these band type things are not adjustable or IF they are, because it’s so close to your head it’s going to be lighting up your nose. I guess there may be some circumstances where you don’t care if it’s focused at 90° or worse yet higher.

@turkeydance. That’s bulky compared to latest led strips. Not interesting.

@Oli. At least this cob-led type strip is not like typical headlamps. In addition to obvious horizontal flood it also has really good vertical spread. Most of the time it wouldn’t be necessary to tilt it down. But I think it would be optimal if it had fixed 30° tilt. That way you wouldn’t waste the power so much where it’s not needed.

And if it’s not clear already these are best for indoors use and close up working. For outdoors I would choose something else.

I just got this new version on my hands. 淘宝网 - 淘!我喜欢

This one is a good working light. I can really recommend it. No more visible pwm-flickering. I tried to find it looking at computer fans and thru phone camera. None seen.

This light is even brighter than the previous one. Yet doesn’t heat up forehead. Usb-c charging. Soft start-up and dimming to low level. Nice! I’m thinking of buying another one for spare before they are discontinued.

Of course there are still room for improvements. I would like:
-neutral white tint (really cool now :person_facepalming: )
-better cri
-hidden strobe mode for f*s sake

Forehead part has sticky rubber pads inside. Good thing if you are wearing a beanie. But I will replace these with some softer material.
