[POLL] Do You Use A Cell Phone Case?

Yes and no. Newer phone (Jan 2017) has one of those “wallet” type holders, and both it and the phone still look showroom new.

10bux each, actually got 2 of ’em, figuring the first one would go to The Hell and I could use the second one afterwards. Gnope, still pristine condition.

My poor 12yo Nuron doesn’t have a case, being a candybar phone, so of course looks like bobofett’s helmet. Still works, even though the button-thingies kinda fell off the sides.

I don’t abuse my stuff and tend to baby them, but even in this case (har!), the critter just ends up jostled around, and shiite happens.

Other than sliding off a table onto the carpet, I don’t recall dropping either one, like, ever.

I used this case in red for note 20 ultra. Really good for drop and grip but no wireless charging. Great price.

Now use Otterbox defender which is not lasting as long.

I also use the niteize lanyard system when fishing because I dropped a note 10 in a lake.

Any one use a lanyard? Phone seems too easy to drop when taking picture over railings etc.

Always have with a tempered glass screen protector.

I always buy outright once a year the flagship model so would like to keep the highest value for it when I sell it on.

Yea I’ve been buying these Spigen cases like this one. For only $13 it works amazingly well and is a much better buy than any service plan. They don’t add much bulk and have saved my phones from some pretty rough drops onto hardwood floors, concrete, tile, and more. This is my third or fourth case from them now; I check to see if they make a case for a new phone before I buy it.

Interesting. And these Japanese phones have no issues on US networks? Maybe I’ll check them out next time I need a new phone.

I use the Supcase with clip. The clip is invaluable to me.

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 is just designed to be used with a case, honestly. Screen is popping out, case is making it flat and united.
No glass protection - careful enough.

i do use a BATTERY case - which makes the phone bigger and more protected

(old iphone 6, dying internal battery, decided on $20 external ‘battery case’ instead of $65 replacing the internal bat)

I’ve got a couple of configurations.

  • I have an optional case that’s modest in thickness with a plate affixed to the back—this is for putting my phone on the magnetic mount in my car.
  • Independent of a case, I do have a tempered glass protector which works. I’m on my 3rd in 2 years. Much rather have the minor pain of replacing the protector made of glass than the actual phone glass itself.
  • For formal occasions and in very controlled conditions, I take my phone out of the case and put it in a nice protective leather sleeve. So its not totally exposed, my phone also has a skin on it. This protects the body from casual nicks & scratches. It’s just so nice to use the phone in it’s more “natural” state, nice and thin.

The iPhone 11 Pro Max is too slippery without a case. I already AppleCare+ it once but I don’t do screen protectors.

I do. It gives my phone a better chance of survival in the real world of knocks & drops.

I don’t. Smartphones are already big enough without any additional “protections”. Today it is almost impossible to find a smartphone <68mm wide.

I know the feeling I also have a Pro Max, Have you tried a higher quality glass screen protector vs the film variant ?

I highly recommend MagBak and Peak Design.

I have a case for my a tablet. Eight inch models are not produced anymore so I have to protect it.

I love my phone w/o a case but I know I will drop it at some point so a case gets installed on day 1 and stays on.

I went from using no case, to using a case without screen protector to using a case with screen protector now. It’s the screen protectors that I need to stock up on. Boy, those suckers will crack quite regularly depending on incidents. I already had to replace 3 for 2021! :money_mouth_face:

Imagine the damage without a screen protector. :person_facepalming:

Never used to, but with the iPhone 12 apple went back to uncomfortably sharp edges, so I have a clear case on which doesn’t dig into the hands as much.
