Convoy T3? What new goodies does Simon have in store?

The 4 mode only has 4 modes, can’t really do anything more with them.

I see that Simon is calling it a 13 mode driver now… It can be configured with the following mode groups.

——————-sub-option 1.1 (normal-flash 1 time) : tap the switch to select mode group 1 (1%、10%、30%、100%)

——————-sub-option 1.2 (normal-flash 2 times) : tap the switch to select mode group 2 (1% 10%、35%、100%、strobe、biking、batcheck)

——————-sub-option 1.3 (normal-flash 3 times) : tap the switch to select mode group 3 (1, 10, 35, 100 ,this group is the same as the first group, in the next batch this group will be deleted)

——————-sub-option 1.4 (normal-flash 4 times) : tap the switch to select mode group 4 (100%、35%、10%、1%)

——————-sub-option 1.5 (normal-flash 5 times) : tap the switch to select mode group 5 (1%、20%、100%、strobe、biking、batcheck、sos)

——————-sub-option 1.6 (normal-flash 6 times) : tap the switch to select mode group 6 (1%、20%、100%)

——————-sub-option 1.7 (normal-flash 7 times) : tap the switch to select mode group 7 (100%、20%、1%)

——————-sub-option 1.8 (normal-flash 8 times) : tap the switch to select mode group 8(1%、10%、50%、strobe、biking、batcheck、sos)

——————-sub-option 1.9 (normal-flash 9 times) : tap the switch to select mode group 9 (1%、10%、50%)

——————-sub-option 1.10 (normal-flash 10 times) : tap the switch to select mode group 10 (50%、10%、1%)

——————-sub-option 1.11 (normal-flash 11 times) : tap the switch to select mode group 11 (20%、100%)

——————-sub-option 1.12 (normal-flash 12 times) : tap the switch to select mode group 12(100%、20%)

——————-sub-option 1.13 (normal-flash 12 times) : tap the switch to select mode group 13(100%)

I don't know if my Sofirn SP10S (V2?) is fatter or not but, it is fatter than any of my other AA lights.

It is also by far my favorite EDC AA light even though it is the 'chunkiest'. Fat flashlights need love too!

I was messaging with Simon on ali about an order and I tossed out the suggestion that rather than deleting this duplicate mode, maybe he could make it something like 10% 35% 50% 100% + Batt Check. Mostly so that there would be an option to have the batt check without including strobes. He wasn’t interested at all, just repeated that he’d delete the mode entirely. I haven’t tried this new driver at all yet but should have a couple of them showing up in the next couple days…curious to see how it compares with the standard older 4-mode in the T2.

I would love a mode like that in the order since it is a small cell light.

That would be good. Much prefer batt check without the strobes.

So, received my light. Unfortunately, it’s a little wonky. Purposely bought the light because I could set it to 100% and my wife won’t complain when she grabs it from the cupboard. (She’s not a fan of those “complicated lights.”

Anyway, first it was just that mode 13 didn’t work. Setting it to 13 defaulted to the same as mode 1. So, I decided to try mode 12. It’s only 2 levels, so I figured I could get away with it. Well, now setting it to mode 12 magically introduced biking strobe into the mix. Somehow I have 100, 20, biking. Go figure.

Side note, this light has the duplicate mode 3 & 4, so it’s not the version that Simon alludes to having that issue fixed in the future.

I messaged the aliexpress store. I hope he responds. I’ve had decent luck reaching out before, so I’m hoping we can get this figured out. Heck, I’d even take a (tested & working) driver at this point.

I'm with you. My T3 arrived Thursday and was DOA. I haven't given up on it but, but at this point, I have tightened & loosened all the segments, swapped batteries, etc. without success.

In the past, Simon has taken good care of me so, I'm not overly concerned at this point.

I'm thinking at this point in time, my SP10S is a superior flashlight with the Skillhunt coming in a close second. However, having never seen the beam of this model makes that statement a bit premature.

I liking the beam pattern and tint. Seems to be high(er) cri, so it’s great for me indoors around the house. If it weren’t for the mode issue, I’d really like it. There aren’t that many lights that can take 14500 and AA, so That gives it a huge plus for me.

Fingers crossed this gets resolved soon. I’ll come back with an update.

Quick update for anyone who is interested. Heard back about the driver issue and found out that the issue was identified a little over a week ago and remaining drivers were sent back to be re-flashed. Looks like I got one with a faulty driver. Sounds like I will be getting a replacement once they are back.

In addition, I had an opportunity to give a little bit of feedback regarding the modes. I suggested moving batt check to “option 3” instead of including in a mode. Also, I recommended programming a single 50% mode to offer a battery saving option instead of only having the full 100% mode 13. I think I said to get rid of the mode with 20, 100, strobe.

I got a couple of them with the 3500k nichia 219b emitters. I wanted to get my wife a better light for her purse than the button keychain light she had. I just wanted one for the 219b. ;0) Both of mine are the 4 mode as that was all they had at the time.

The T3 and bare drivers I ordered have the same issue. I wasn’t planning on using those groups anyway. I have three drivers I put in other lights and I wanted to order a couple more of them. I guess I’ll have to wait for the fixed ones.

Simon took good care of me and my dead T3. Sounds like he had a bad batch of drivers that slipped through QC.

My L6 with GT-FC40 should ease my suffering with the loss of my Orange T3.

If anyone has specific thoughts or ideas on modes, I can share with Simon as he’s still communicating back/forth on these.

50% should be in a group with 100% to reduce heat. Simon’s mindset is that there’s not much visual difference, but there’s a massive thermal difference.

I’d love 1% and/or 10, 35, 50, 100 and also in reverse for hunting mounted on a rifle. The same firmware is often used on all drivers, so thinking about the C8+ in this case

Also get rid of X flashes for each group, it’s too time consuming. It should be a single flash for each group

Personally I’m not fond of 50% mode, especially together with 100% mode in one group. 35,50,100% would look like 3 high modes. Usually when I want to use something with lower heat, I use different flashlight with different max current.

That’s why there’s 11 other groups for you

Most are used for my hunting customers who are mounting the C8+ and L21B to their rifles, so 100% lasts between 2-3.5 minutes depending on the LED and driver. They’re also used for handheld searching for animals, so a prolonged burst of 50% is going to be more beneficial, but no one is going to want to go through the whole selection process out in the bush etc to get to 100%

Have all issues with drivers been fixed? Is it 12 groups now?

As I said on other thread depth reflector, pill if is present and the diameter of driver take space, you can see checking how much thick is the tube battery.
I want see from these manufactures AA lights with Tir lens and 15mm size bost driver (if the space for components is enought) to made the host smaller and lighter

Just got a pair of T3’s (519a 5000K). These are excellent flashlights, There is a slight difference in hue between the diodes (one is a little greener, the other is a little pinker), but this is nitpicking, since it is still much less than the difference between the diodes in one batch of SF flashlights.

For some reason, one of the flashlights got very hot, as if it emitted about 500 lumens, but in fact it burned at the same brightness as its brother, it just went out after 10 minutes of operation. I looked, it looks like it’s because of the wrong position of the small element, is it on the right in the picture? Is it a resistor? I can’t even see with magnification what it is. I gave it to a friend, he soldered it in place and now the flashlight works again without heating up. I love convoys for their maintainability.

I don’t see PWM. I would like the weakest mode of 0.1-0.5, not 1. Perhaps this is done so that it does not compete with Anduril, which can make a very dim light.

I am nit picking a bit, the 1% mode is just to bright. However I do have a pair of them and really like them. I dropped an sm573 519A in one and gave it to a budding flashaholic.
