I have been using these for over 3 years after being a life long smoker. I have tried a couple different designs and prefer the Ego tank system.
You want to start by ordering one of these three kits any of these will work fine.
You are going to need some replacement parts.
Atomizers burn up after a couple months or a couple weeks so you will need some replacements.
I recommend you order ten you are going to need them. The last thing you want to do is commit to quitting smoking and have your e-cig out of commission.
You also need some cartridges this is were the e-liquid is stored before it’s converted to steam by the atomizer as you inhale it.
A couple extra batteries is a good idea I always try to keep four on hand because again you don’t want to run out of power when you need your nicotine fix.
An extra bottle to hold your e-liquid is good to have to aid in a quick refill of the cartridge.
Your starter kit will come with some e-liquid. I started with Camel cigarette flavor since that is what I smoked.I mix my own e-liquid now I use 35mg per ml of nicotine which is extremely strong, but I find it keeps the wear down on my equipment. I can’t vouch for any e-liquid suppliers except the one I use. I am sure you can find a local supplier if you search the e-cig forums.

Thanks for the detailed info E3120, I had absolutely no idea how these stuff work and what you need, it’s for a member of my family who’s been smoking for decades and can’t quit… 
I honestly had no intention of quitting when I first got into e-cigs. I just built a new house and was tired of going outside in the freezing cold to smoke. I found myself almost instantly addicted to the e-cig and have been smoke free for over 3 years now after smoking a pack a day for most of my adult life. I can tell you it isn’t for everybody, but it worked for me.
The lighter is a representation of the “Mannekin Pis,” found in Brussels, Belgium.
The original peeing statue is there, as is the museum devoted to his 700+ costumes. You can find just about anything in the shops there that could possibly have that figural attached…keychains, corkscrews, pouring bottle-tops, even full-size souvenirs of the statue to take home.
The original is only about 2-feet tall, and off of a tiny alley in the Grand Place…but the wee thing sells a ton of merchandise !
Received a xm-l 1a for $6.12 not great but good, and an xr-e P4 warm white $3.00from LED-DNA on ebay ordered on 5/27 received today 6/5 very fast shipping. Both on 16mm board to start my self modded lights and the warm white to see if I can get addicted. Want one of the nichia leds everyone is liking.
Hopefully that P4 warm white will be a cheap start in warm whites!

Sorry crap photo. I put 3 extensions on one body and can use 2 18650. I only bought these eight days ago from a Hong kong ebay seller.
Got a L2P in grey from Solarforce, together with non-crenellated bezel. Ordered 31 May, sent next day, arrived this morning. We’ve just had 2 days public holiday, so pretty amazing really.
Trouble is, the Intl Outdoor drop-in I ordered at the same time hasn’t shipped yet 
Think I’ll give Hank a shout. Still, put my only other drop-in in, and had a play. Very nice.

Got a P60 drop-in from Manafont that has a Samsung 3535 LED. The LED is pretty much the same as a Cree XP-G. Mini review here:

I received the “32 pc MICRO PRECISION SCREWDRIVER SET w/ T4 T5 T6 Mini Torx, Hex, Flat, ” for $8.99 + shipping. I got it on ebay and it was shipped from the U.S.
I worked for the knives that I have and will work for opening up my watches too I believe.
I also got an “emergency fire starter” for $5 from ebay as well. This is for camping and is basically a block of magnesium with an attached scraper and a spark rod. I tried it out on some dryer lint and it worked well. There is a little technique required (just takes a little practice).
A match works too 
but for $5 this is nice to have along as well.

Anyway, on 6/7/2012 i got 4x18650 (4.01V; 4.01V; 4.01V; 4.00V) and 2x14500 (3.79V; 3.70V) TF batteries and on their way are: 1xbike light, 1xFandyFire G10 and a few little things like AAA to AA converters, spare O-rings, some holsers … I hope they will be here in 2-3 days and if i am really lucky they will be here tomorrow
