Your coolest / best / favorite flashlight of 2021

Convoy L21A with KW CULPM1.TG

FWAA as of now with convoy sw45k swap. It has become my flood edc. Carried in pocket w/o clip and mechanical lockout.

Not necessarily totally new to 2021, buy my continuously tweaked TIR FW1A is still my all time hero. This year it got a SS bezel, LEDIL Leila RS, and FD2 sst20. Nearly perfect.

:

A shorty tube for the FW3C with cyan glow gasket and tail cap. Apart from the chunky lumpy feeling in a pocket, it is my favourite light for general, bedside nip to the loo type edc.

Edit: Total fail from me having read the OP again, sorry. :zipper_mouth_face:

Best Walking Light - Sofirn SF47 (4 x SST40)

This light deserves a mention because I had no interest in it until I held my brother’s. The 6500k color tint was undesirable to me and I thought the lumen claims seemed dubious. But this light feels amazing in the hand (2 * 21700 form factor) and feels satisfyingly sturdy. The claimed 9000 lumen turbo may or may not be the full 9000 (I have no way of checking) but I can tell you the results are impressive. The high mode doesn’t seem to step down (claimed 3000 lumens) and I typically walk around outside with that mode. In general, I love the mode spacing on this light for an outdoors focused light. If it came in a 5000k tint I’d love it even more but this light is great. Easily my sleeper-hit of 2021

Best EDC Light - Emisar D4V2
Grey, steel bezel, amber switch, tail magnet, e21a 2700k

I find myself grabbing this light for EDC a lot because I feel so mellow looking at it and using it. I also got one in black with a red switch and XPL-HI 5000k emitters that’s a strong runner-up.

Best Jacket Pocket Light - Zebralight SC700D

Disappears in a jacket pocket and has killer sustained output for its size. There’s something magical about the knurling on this light too. I just love holding it.

My vote goes to Noctigon K9.3 SST-20 4000/2700. Plenty bright and small enough to carry it with me. The second place is WildTrail WT1M, but recently I noticed high parasitic drain and won’t use it until I fix it.

Astrolux FT02s for having a good balance of flood and throw. Also pretty powefull with 4xXHP50.2 leds. Ergonomics also great with 3 types of battery. Well balanced weight. Heat dissipation is also better than on smaller Astrolux EA01s. Comes with Anduril that we all love.

YLP Gekko 1.0

Still 6 more weeks to go of 2021, so it could all change

Emisar DT8 in cyan. E21a 2700k led’s. The most wonderful beam tint I could wish for.

Sofirn IF22A

I just ordered one a few minutes ago. Have a 21700 that needs a home.

I think for me, for new releases, it was the Lumintop FWAA but the little Wild Trail WT3M was a very nice surprise. If I were to judge based on the number of new cells I bought, it would have to be the FWAA.

Not new, but I also picked up a Noctigon KR4 and like that one an awful lot. Given that I had three extended power outages this year, the most useful light by far ended up being the Convoy M3C simply due to its output and fantastic run times at low-but-useful light levels. Least impressive to me were a couple from Wurkkos and Olight but they’re both still good lights.

Lumintop FWAA. It has hardly left me since I got it. It's beyond smaller than I could have imagined them making. It's not really an EDC due to the flood but it hasn't prevented me from taking it everywhere.

Astrolux EA01 (Mateminco MT01). Bought 3 TIR throwers in 2021 and the EA01 is my favorite. Or at least by far my most used. The others are fun but not practical. The EA01 has a usable beam up close and I've seen some IF22A posts as well so there's a lot of fans of TIR throwers with larger hotspots than Osrams produce. And it has the benefit of Anduril that none of the others have, until the DM11 debuts.

Update: Yep, the Mateminco MT70 Mini SFN55.2 easily makes my list.
The beam is flawless (no dark rings, crosses or halo’s. I have the Black Bezel, OP reflector) and it throws really well.
It’s balanced when you’re holding it, and the 26650 body size feels good in your hand.
If they come out with nice warmer tint’s, that would be the icing on the cake for me.

Despite that it has half the throw that I hoped for, my favourite and coolest flashlight is still the Lumintop Ant Man. I wanted a pocket-sized LEP light since LEP started and Lumintop did make one :+1: . It looks great, 77 kcd is still amazing for a small pants-pocket-size light (40% more than the Jacob A60, my thrower reference of old), the beam is the nicest of the 3 LEP lights that I own (and a relief compared to the distracting square beams of my aspherics), and because of the underwhelming output/throw, the current is under 1 amp which gives it more than an hour runtime.

I have to add the Olight Baton 3. 1200 lumens. 20 days at 5 lumens.
