i was in the “muggle” group who had not read any of the books.
and, as a result, i was completely out-of-my-element for being
able to adequately understand exactly why anyone did anything.
Yeh, when I watched the original movie, I wondered why they all had fruit-punch mouth.
Demetrius and the Gladiators .
Did you see The Dead Don’t Die? I didn’t care for the movie as a whole but Tilda Swinton’s part in it was pretty great. 
When I was young I bought it on DVD to watch because gladiators. Boy was I disappointed. The way I remember it those fight scenes were some real stinkers. They had better film duels in the 1930s! :person_facepalming:

Since you’re our resident expert (pun intended 
) on Resident Evil, how would you rank the SEVEN movies of the franchise? I’m not a huge fan of this genre, so if you could pick just one or two movies you’d say are the best of the Resident Evil series, what would they be?
I finally saw the new Dune movie.
I liked it! Better than I expected. Of course, highly disappointing that this is only part one… leaving us hanging. And it’s quite long. A few things depicted differently than I hoped. But overall… quite good & respectful of the book.
It's been a while since I've seen most of them, and I didn't write short movie reviews for any of them except part seven.
I think that the first six movies are very good, and part seven is just good.
Sorry, but that's the best I can do without re-watching all of them.
If you’re only gonna watch two, watch the 1st two (RE, and RE: Apocalypse). IMO those are the best. Hard to put one over the other.
The 1st one introduces everything so if you don’t know what it’s about, you kinda need to see it.
They’re all good though.
Very good movie. Scary, heartbreaking, it hits you like a train. 8.5/10
Not entertaining or funny. Sad, brutal life many of us don’t know.

Jim Jarmusch is the Todd Rundgren of US filmmaking. I was impressed when I saw “Stranger Than Paradise,” back in 1984, but I had not seen another one of his movies (except for “The Dead Don’t Die”) until I recently saw “Paterson,” and again I was impressed. I have to see “Down By Law” one of these days.

Cool - thanks! Sometimes with a long running series like this, there can be significant improvements in production and story writing such that the original feels dated and lackluster. Thanks!

damn…ok. Bear in mind it’s a movie series based on a video game series, but, thems the breaks. Silent Hill is similar. I also liked both of those movies, however you probably will not. They are a bit more psychological horror though than RE
I actually prefer psychological horror/thriller versus blood-guts-gore ones.
