Which movie did you watch lastֻ

If you’re only gonna watch two, watch the 1st two (RE, and RE: Apocalypse). IMO those are the best. Hard to put one over the other.
The 1st one introduces everything so if you don’t know what it’s about, you kinda need to see it.
They’re all good though.

Very good movie. Scary, heartbreaking, it hits you like a train. 8.5/10
Not entertaining or funny. Sad, brutal life many of us don’t know.
Lilja 4-ever

Re-watched the movie “Hackers” last night. Was a fun blast from the past.

Lilya 4-ever looks interesting - I’ll try to see that one

Jim Jarmusch is the Todd Rundgren of US filmmaking. I was impressed when I saw “Stranger Than Paradise,” back in 1984, but I had not seen another one of his movies (except for “The Dead Don’t Die”) until I recently saw “Paterson,” and again I was impressed. I have to see “Down By Law” one of these days.

“Joey, do you like movies about gladiators?”

Cool - thanks! Sometimes with a long running series like this, there can be significant improvements in production and story writing such that the original feels dated and lackluster. Thanks!
EDIT: Saw RE #1. Meh… not for me. Not my style of movie.

 x 100!

well, only gladiators on airplanes.

damn…ok. Bear in mind it’s a movie series based on a video game series, but, thems the breaks. Silent Hill is similar. I also liked both of those movies, however you probably will not. They are a bit more psychological horror though than RE

I actually prefer psychological horror/thriller versus blood-guts-gore ones.

- Sang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings (7 / 10)

- No Time To Die (7.5 / 10)

- Red Notice (6.5 / 10)

  • Big Momma’s House 2 (7 / 10)

Very good movie. 8/10
Distant or near future?
Harrison Bergeron

Dune update.
this is why i could not
hear some of the dialogue….

“I used to be able to understand 99% of the dialogue in Hollywood films.
But over the past 10 years or so, I’ve noticed that percentage has dropped significantly — and it’s not due to hearing loss on my end.”

So basically, actors are getting more sloppy and audio takes a back seat to everything else (like CGI)… thus, it falls by the wayside. I can see it. “So what if you can’t understand everything they say? This is entertainment. You’re watching a visual spectacle—the audio dialog is along for the ride. Music is more important.”

I can’t stand actors who indulge being inarticulate.

Life of Crime 1984-2020

Very good, powerful, heartbreaking documentary movie. Strongly recommend.

I understood the people's words in the new Dune movie, and I frequently have trouble understanding people's words.

Yea I didn’t have trouble understanding either, but that could be because my local theater likes to crank the volume up to ear-shattering levels…I can actually hear the movie just fine with my fingers in my ears too! :person_facepalming:

But I understand the issue in general. Sometimes the dialogue is almost inaudible and then you get blasted by your speakers when the action starts because you had to crank the volume to hear. More often than not I end up with the subtitles on.

Things We Lost in the Fire (2007)

This is an excellent drama, with amazing acting by Benicio Del Toro and Halle Berry, in which a woman whose husband was recently murdered invites his childhood friend, who is now a heroin addict, to live at her home with her and her two children while she grieves her husband’s loss. Very well done.

I saw Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020).

This movie is great.

The acting is good for a supervillain movie.

All of the main characters are interesting, except for the kid.

The music is excellent.

Most of the action sequences are done very well.

I think that movies that appeal to the Comic-Con crowd that star mostly women get low ratings on IMDb due to misogyny.

This movie and the Ghostbusters reboot come to mind.

Anyways, check this film out if you like superhero/supervillain movies.

The Ghostbusters reboot simply didn’t measure up well to the original movies in the eyes of fans. For one, it traded Bill Murray humor for Melissa McCarthy humor. Whether you are a fan of either/both you have to admit that their movies play very differently. Secondly, prior to release I don’t think they were very honest about whether it was a reboot or not. And finally, rebooting franchises with characters of different genders is just lazy. Hollywood is trying to jump-start this trend because they can get more mileage out of proven intellectual properties. They are afraid to take chances with original concepts. If you want to see how much Hollywood really believes in women, look at how long it took them to make Black Widow, which should have released in 2016 or 2017.

That doesn't explain why Birds of Prey currently has a 6.1 on IMDb.

It should have at least a 7.5

And you think that many comic book nerds aren't misogynistic?

Do you remember their response when the all-female Ghostbusters was announced?

They lost their ****.

...

Also, the new Dune movie currently has an 8.2, and the original has a 6.4

Yet the original is a much more entertaining movie.

Although the new Dune movies isn't technically a remake, it could easily pass as one.

The new Dune movie has more in common with the original Dune than the Ghostbusters reboot has in common with the original Ghostbusters.
