Astrolux EC06 - some pics & a beamshot

Ohh - looked more carefully at the driver. It looks like a FET+ 3 with it wired so each pair of LED's gets a FET+1, but driven in parallel from the MCU. I think that's what they did. Interesting way of wiring it. Clearly each FET/7135 pair is output wired independently from each other. Makes you wonder, based on % tolerances of the FET's if each pair may be brighter/dimmer than another pair. I've never seen multiple FET's wired like this - usually they just wire them in parallel, with shared output.

Dunno, maybe there's a slight advantage this way.

d_t_a - you are right, pretty sure anyway - FET+3 but uniquely wired up

If you got a Convoy 3X21A, you should try the flat top adapter in this light, see if it fits - suspect it will. Mine fits the Haikelite HK90 well.

I check our EC06 video with this turbo runtime graph

And I’ve compare to our old MF01S with this turbo graph

on the first I presume that green line is 0
After check that I reread my previous post
This 2 light have too much power if you use turbo

But we can see at our graph MF01S have possibity to evacuat heat a middle outpout and a possibility to have just a decent outpout a high temp level use

At the first run graph EC06 it’s just a falls to near near near so close 0 output :person_facepalming:

I validate myself with my hand and eye tools this light a no capability to evacuat heat so at any power output it will fall below 1000 (1000 i’m very sweet….)
Not 1000, 300 >_<

I’m ok beam is nice, so long as the light is not hot

No idea what happened for your testing, but my EC06 is getting over 22K lumens with P42A’s and my setup always measures slightly less than a calibrated Sphere.

Powerbank showing there’s enough power, but find it’s buggy as it lights up randomly in use. I believe this is made by Sofirn since the Sofirn and Wurkkos models behave the same

I had to calibrate the voltage readout as it was showing 4.4v at full charge and DMM showed 4.20

I’ll let you know what I get with P42A when my fresh ones arrive.

22K? wow, that's awesome! I assume that's at start. About 3670 lumens per LED. Maybe that triple channel of FET+1 design does work efficiently.

I see the EC01 was measured at 4200 lumens at start on a 40T, spec'd at 3500 lumens with one XHP50.2. Figure the EC06 has 1 cell, 1 driver circuit per pair of LED's while the EC01 has the same for 1 LED, so seems to make sense.

There isn't much to mod to improve output on this light - brass contact ring on the batt+ end, bypassed springs on the batt- end, 3 pairs of LED wires, etc. Might be room for heavier gauge, dunno. Doesn't say if the lens is treated or not, type of glass, etc.

It’s possible I use the two screenshot take on our vidéo to post in my personnal rewiew of this light?
Of curse give link to our video on my rewiew or I almost totally disagree but which remains very interesting

Yeah sure

I’ve just stuck 3 fresh MOLICEL P42A cells in and got 26,0000 lumens at turn on wtf!!!

Thank guy

My EC06 is coming tomorrow - it arrived at my local post office, closed today. Yea, 26K is quite crazy. In my testing the Lishen's LR2170LA did as good as the original 40T's - here in US for $4 each. The new 40T's, think 40T-3, is lower performing. I can test it with various sets of 21700's using Simon's 3X21A flat top adapter - it should fit.

I have been keeping an eye on this item since it was announced. I have lots of lights in this size class, but the price point for this item is extremely attractive for the quality. Just one question before I decide if I should order a few to make gifts of:

General consensus, how many lumens at turn on with 40T? I know of the tint lottery, but do we now have a power lottery?

I don’t have a meter but mine is much brighter than the DM70. At least twice as bright as Quad XHP50.2 FT02S. I really understand where all this heat is coming from. If I only take it to the FT02S turbo level the runtime is much cooler. MOLICEL P42A used in all three.

Oh boy, this light is legit power. Just got it and been taking some pics, made a few measurements. I used fresh new Vapcell T42 cells at 4.20V, as good, maybe slightly better than the 40T's and measured 28090 at turn on! Ouch! Yes, flesh scorching hot in just a few seconds.

Measured again over 10 secs: 27755 at turn on, 25360 at 5 secs, 24660 at 10 secs. Lumens are with the maukka calib factor. My old calib factor got 12% higher lumens, so these #'s are conservative side, but make note this is not at 30 seconds.

Throw with a 2 sec pause, taken at 5 m: 127 kcd

Great results Tom. God knows what it’ll hit with 3 x 30T buttons or a 30T alternative with BT.

I deleted my review after I tried it with 21700’s! I sold it way short.

Have 2 posts here in the sales thread on it. This light is no fun, nothing to mod...

Thanks, freeme, and everyone else for posting your valuable input on this nice quality, budget priced supra factory speced screamer.

I already have stock X50, extreme boosted X45 vn 25,000 lumens that I have used nightly very much for a long time, and MS06 vn, and a veritable plethora of other very nice quality pop can power flooders, but this item is way too practically free for its quality and power point to pass up. So I am requesting a code for one, for starters.

I will mention that user ksup in the German forum got 25500 lumens at turn on: https://www.taschenlampen-forum.de/threads/astrolux-ec06.83837/#post-1146528

Also, I will mention that I got three EC03 last summer, because it is obviously more lumens than factory specd.

By the way, this light also has normal modes for normal heat generation and normal run time, for those special moments when such may be needed.

Same as asked on the German forum: Where can I get button top 40T or near equivalent? Or do I have to go with solder blob 40T?

My lights: https://budgetlightforum.com/t/-/9150/287

No

Thermally speaking it’s a brick, if you see is weight 10 grams - MF01S but his batterry carrier have 20 grams more than astrolux and 10 gram less for the head.
220 grams for battery carrier when Acebeam X45 is 140 and same for Q8
330 gram for X45 head who have a “little better” thermal designe and who can do 4000 lumens constant
I’m try to make a rewiew for try to explain this light has just design for one action, Turbo for much possible time without burning. anything other.

After 96H of negociation Banggood finaly purpose full refund and I keep it
I accept but for free this light remains useless.

The beam is pretty nice… I’ve no word… good beam, good light (LED,configuration, reason I pre order it, just don’t think all of the weigh put in battery carrier…) just design for no utility exept P O W E R for5second

Time to sleep, good night all

Perhaps this mod!

This light is fantastic !!! I tested it against an Imalent MS08 and it is even brighter than this when switched on with 3 Molicel P42A, I decided to buy 4 more and combine them to make a 100,000 lumens monster. Mateminco / Astrolux you are great !!!
