Andúril 2 coming to Sofirn - The general Sofirn development thread

I saw that Sofirn released new SD01 Pro version of that flash light with XHP50.2 I really like the SD01 design and want to see e-switch variant of it with Andruil 2. Also SD01 Pro have option for 5000K XHP50.2 LED. I like to see same option Sofirn to release for Q8 Pro or version with cheaper SST40 or SFT40 leds.

Has anyone tried and can compare LH351D SP40*A* to regular SP40?
Which do you prefer?

Also, can anyone comment on charging port?
I have asked twice on Ali and their rep replied that the charging port is usb type c, whereas on pictures it looks like microusb.

Microusb port. The LH351D 4000K looks very good, especially with the replacement of the reflector with TIR. However, Sofirn is already putting on TIR on a regular basis, although it looks like the head mount has disappeared from the kit ...

Hello @Sofirn,

have you changed charging port to USB3.0 - Type-C instead of USB2.0 micro on SP40A?
On product photo https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005003349962516.html there is microUsb, whereas the aliexpress rep told me repeatedly, that it is Type-C.
Please could you clarify on this topic?

I just got the Sofirn SP40A, and can confirm that it still uses micro-USB port for charging.

Thanks
How do you like the beam vs regular SP40 with LH351d?

I’m looking for general purpose, hiking headlamp.

d_t_a can you comment on the beam profile with the tir optic?
Or post any of your famous beamshot comparisons?
It would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Which version of Andruil2 is used in new IF25A, any date or code for that? I think it will be based on SP36 firmware.

Will venture a guess:

BLF LT1v2.0 uses Anduril 2, date code 2021-01-25, model 621 (‘BLF Lantern’)

Sofirn Q8 Pro and Astrolux EC06, uses Anduril 2, date code 2021-06-06, model 611 (‘BLF Q8’)

Wurkkos TS21 uses Anduril 2, date code 2021-06-06, model 612 (‘Sofirn SP36’)

I seem to recall that the previous batch of IF25A uses the same firmware as the SP36; it would be likely that the IF25A with Anduril 2, would also use the same firmware (likely the same firmware as the TS21).

I wonder if the IF25A will also add a powerbank function (several Sofirn / Wurkkos flashlights that have USB-C charging, now also feature a powerbank function, namely: BLF LT1v2.0, Wurkkos HD20, Sofirn IF22/IF22A, Wurkkos TS21, Sofirn Q8 Pro, Astrolux EC06. (note: IF22/IF22A/HD20 do not use Anduril, but have powerbank function.)

other comment: Anduril 2, date code 2021-06-06 is not in TK’s Anduril 2 repository though. It has SOS mode in the Advanced UI’s triple-click from Off (batt-check sequence), whereas most other Anduril 2 flashlights do not have SOS enabled (other than the BLF LT1) for the Batt-check sequence.

Interesting. I wonder where that build came from. If Sofirn is doing custom versions now, I may need to have a talk with Barry about the license requirements. Doing their own versions is fine, but they’re required to make the source code of those derivative works available.

I also see some things in the Sofirn LT1S product listing which raise questions. Like, according to the description, it seems to use a derivative of Anduril but there is no source provided.

I have about 8 Sofirn lights on Anduril 1 (I Think) and see the update is lurking in the near future. How much trouble will it be to flash all my current lights to the newer version if that will even be possible? I apologize for not wanting to read 50+ pages to try and find this answer. My goal is to keep all my lights functions exactly the same no matter which I choose to use that day.

The BLF Q8 / Sofirn Q8 / BLF LT1 are quite easy to flash. (Actually what I mean by “easy” is: no soldering required, or no need to remove hard-to-remove glued boards).

Will just need to unscrew the driver board, and then use a flashing device plus SOIC clip and the correct firmware (and a computer for flashing, but they can also be done using some phone software, but I have not tried that route).

If you have semi-good skills in soldering/desoldering and removing glued boards, then I think most Sofirn lights that use Anduril can be relatively easily updated.

I don’t have good soldering skills (or probably the right soldering iron), so those Sofirn flashlights that will require desoldering/soldering or removing hard-to-remove glued boards are a bit out of my skill level. The ones I’ve tried updating Anduril versions are only the ones I mentioned - BLF Q8 / Sofirn Q8 / BLF LT1, which are basically very similar. I think the Q8 Pro /EC06 can also be easily updated since it just requires unscrewing the board, no soldering-desoldering; but I haven’t tried updating their firmwares.

When did IF22A start using Anduril2? I ordered mine on August 9th, it acts like Anduril, but it’s Sofirn’s own…

It’s still showing Sofirn UI in their current Aliexpress store listing (where I bought mine):

“it uses sofirn’s user interface with both stepped modes and stepless ramping as well as a more advanced temperature regulation (ATR) with smart heat control”

Was my mistake  I mean IF25A

Will there be a Pro version of the new SC32?
It could be an awesome light for light painting photographers with Anduril 2.

Sad that this thread is no longer updated

What updates do you expect?

Instead of the usual cylindrical lights I would have a square-ish light similar TIP2, dual Led with adjustable CCT ramping mode and ultralow firefly.

This type format is flatter, lightweight and more pocket friendly than round cells lights

fwiw, Sofirn SC21 Pro has been shipping with Anduril 2 lately. Very nice little light…

Im a big fan of the lighted button
modded w sw45k and Pebbled Tir, in my pocket today:
.
it also has an excellent beam w stock reflector and dedomed 519a… :+1:
.

plus the tailmagnet, deep carry hatclip, and built in charging, make it a Total Package

The SC21 Pro also works very nicely with Red and Green LEDs:
