I bought the Weuben version of that light a few years ago $20 — horrible beam and tint — I put a XPL 4k in it with DC Fix — use it in the shed when I need to find things under the workbench — the 14500 that comes with it is usb rechargeable and a good bit longer than a standard 14500
Good looking knife and sheath. Fairly sharp out of the box. I did the "mustard test" on the blade and left it on for over an hour. It came out clean as a whistle! No staining. I was very surprised to say the least. The blade is magnetic. I tried for a few minutes to sharpen it with my ceramic sticks and this is one tough piece of steel. It would not sharpen for me. It's going to take a whole bunch to get a really good edge on this blade.
So, my conclusion, FWIW, is that this may or may not be D2 steel, but whatever it is is tough steel. I'll keep working at it to put a super sharp edge on it.
And I am happy with my purchase.... $14.06 (including tax) delivered to my door. Wow, thanks for the great buy and keep the deals coming my friends.
Link isn’t coming up with a selectable add-to-cart option when I viewed it. In any case… given what Lumintop has done to the FW3A, no telling what you get when you order it. Most likely not the preferred early versions where the driver board hadn’t been altered yet.
Just purchased two of the IP - Stank flashlights. Seems great for our cars as emergency lights with those great cones they come with.
Thank you for posting about them.
Thanks Bwana, I also took a chance and ordered two of the $8 grey colored IPStank Flashlights (one for my collection of weird lights and one to use and abuse).
I am not expecting much (or anything) and just hope they don't Stank too much.
I dunno... IPStank cell looks like it might be proprietary, with a flat middle button contact and a surrounding ring contact. Browsing the images of both lights shows the same cell design in each.
As much as my inner flashaholic wants one for each vehicle, think I'll pass unless standard 18650 cell design is confirmed. Thanks for posting.
