I dunno... IPStank cell looks like it might be proprietary, with a flat middle button contact and a surrounding ring contact. Browsing the images of both lights shows the same cell design in each.
As much as my inner flashaholic wants one for each vehicle, think I'll pass unless standard 18650 cell design is confirmed. Thanks for posting.
I bought a similar one on the same type of deal some months ago. I like it a lot.
I used the COB work light recently and it was pretty bright . Not the worst 15 bucks i ever spent
Mmmm... I saw that too. Might be "Chinese standard', not unlike 'Chinese lumens'; they can write anything they want, and Muggles won't know the difference anyway.
Image below is from the grey $7.99 light. The appearance of the apparent contact design on cell's end is why I became suspicious.
The image below is from the black $16.64 light on the same page. Same light, just different anodizing. Much more damning. The end cap looks to have a center spring contact as well as a raised contact ring that matches the ring around the center button of the cell. The contact assembly on the cell appears to be secured under the wrap.
To me, a proprietary cell of unknown origin for a light from an unknown manufacturer that requires said proprietary cell is a death knell for that product; glaring, planned obsolescence. Hope I'm wrong, because this light would be a very good addition to a vehicle for emergency use. But, I've become sensitive to deceptive marketing when claimed descriptions don't match images of the product.
BLF members - please, when your IPStank lights are received, let us know if a standard 18650 cell is truly compatible.
I have the same question. I just received mine too. The center circle on the battery, on both ends is positive and the outer area is negative. So the stock battery
can be placed in the light either way and work fine. But what happens if a NORMAL 18650 is inserted???
I like the fact the window breaker end seconds as a cigarette lighter insert to enable you to recharge the flashlight and the other end allows you
to use it as a power bank.
