review : Cyansky M1R tiny usb-c light-----------------------------------------==========

it;s very light and small. this is one of my main light desired-characteristics..
REALLY pocket sized!
==way smaller that it looked, almost same size as a 9v battery
seems very well made.
mine is pretty red, anodized with fancy engraving - no painted-on logos..!
has a uv light, and a bright red led that can also blink
has usb-c charging
comes with a cable - to regular usb.
- it also works with real usb (some other lights do not - WUBEN!)
nice neutral white beam color - i am not a tint snob
nice spot+flood pattern - very useful
the charge light is inside the switch button
it comes on when you short-press button, does not waste power otherwise
it remembers the last light mode , even if it was UV or RED, which i like.
seems like this light would be very waterproof and shock proof.
the low-power light comes on when the light steps down to the lowest level
- which is good, because it warns you it;s about to die
- the slightly bad feature is, though, that it stays blinking, which may run the battery down below its
death voltage, though i am not going do that, since i do not want it to die
- maybe that would stop eventually, before death point, but i do not know
it has a lockout but i won;t really use it, the switch will never come on accidentally
it has a red/green power indicator, standard issue

uv has no brightness control
uv pattern - i think it should be more focused, it is too floody
charge port cover looks like it might come off eventually.
it is hard to feel where the switch is, in the dark or a pocket
i feel like usb-C is still uncommon, might be better to use micro-usb or apple connectors
no pocket clip.
USB is not really a standard
though the cable they provide, does charge if it is plugged to a regular USB wall wart
i like memory mode but ONLY sometimes, i wish it was switchable
reason not to like memory - you never know what state the light will come up in
it has a tiny lanyard, which i do not use
rather just tie a long string to it that hangs out of my pocket, easier to find it

NO TURBO - the highest light level, 3, is just not bright enough
no tailstanding - would give up the lanyard attachment for a flat bottom that can stand up
user interface - i would rather have a short click for on, and a hold for level change.
--this is the opposite, you may like it, many other lights work this way
uv light is typical cheap LED - it has a lot of visible blue
-- a filter is necessary for serious uv use
uv is not really very bright
i think it would also be better with a tail switch
reasons - when you get it out of a pocket, it is hard to tell
a. which end is the front - i have been blinded several times by this
b. what side the switch is on
it takes a lot of fumbling to get the thing on, tail switches are much faster
battery not replaceable, of course.
very tiny print in manual
the usb-c port cover is pretty flimsy, seems like it will come off fairly soon
it is also kind of hard to open and close it
no clip, this could be a good baseball cap light, or shirt-pocket light
the odd shape means you cannot just attach a round clip to it from some other light
the edges are sharp, which can make holes in pockets
------edit - it has a problem------
my light only charges at 60ma, for an hour, totaling 60mah.
the spec says 200mah for the battery.
it runs for one hour on high
i have a trustfire minix, basically the same light.
it runs 2.6 hours on high.
something is wrong with mine.
the other guy who reviewed the m1r, says his took 200ma and 200mah.
