In threads with polls, typing a reply, clicking Preview first, then clicking Save ends up not posting the reply and just cancelling the previously recorded vote in the poll, even though the “cancel vote” button was not clicked.
Anyone else notice this? It’s been this way for quite some time, over a year.
I never noticed this before, but I tried adding a test message to the jon-slider poll about CRI and my vote was canceled when the post was saved.
Happens with me also. Not being a native English speaker/writer I use “preview” a lot, and then happens what you describe. Which made me occasinally think: !@#$%^ the poll.

@MtnDon Yes, there seems to be a toggling effect on the votes too.
I thought of creating a poll for this thread so people can test it, but I didn’t want to supercede that jon-slider CRI poll.
yes, my vote Does get cancelled after a preview, sometimes… I could not make it happen just now as a test edit
and yes, sometimes my save does not save after a preview, and instead cycles back to another preview, before the edit
and I lose all the brilliant comments I had so carefully composed,
and my most profound thoughts are lost forever… lol
Sorry for the oddities of the poll module here, it’s always had its quirks unfortunately… The only thing I can suggest is to clear your budgetlightforum.com cookies.
Could you elaborate on this a bit more please?
sometimes when I edit, and preview, and then go to Save, my edits disappear, and I see the unedited post, in preview mode.
I then have to re-edit the post, and save it. sometimes it does not save, and Im back in Preview mode of the post Im editing.
when that happes, I move my editing to notepad, and once Im done, I paste the whole thing back into BLF…
gets frustrating to re-edit posts that lose my edits… but… its ok, I can work around it.
OK, so this only happens when editing a post you already made? Is this with the Advanced or the Simple Post Editor?
it happens both when I edit, or if I create a new post

I just went to a poll thread and did a test
first I started an edit of an existing post by adding
“test edit”
then I did preview, and the test edit was visible, it was fine the first time, but I did not save, instead I edited again
by adding a “second line”
I then did a preview and both test edit and second line were gone…
basically, by the second preview, the edits stop working
I got the same result with a new post
composed one line, did a preview and it worked
composed a second line, did a preview, and both lines were gone
this only happens in a poll thread, I cannot duplicate the problem in this thread we are in now
Thanks for confirming these details. Again, if it’s a poll thread I probably can’t do much to fix it, since there are some weird quirks in the poll module.
