Does anyone make a simple portable digital battery tester that isn’t a cheap piece of crap. No test leads, just something you can slide various size batteries into to get a quick voltage reading. Don’t care about 9v.
Thanks, but that looks like the ones they sell on Amazon that went up in smoke after a couple uses. I’d like to get something that’s better quality.
I did research on this subject before, and this tester was the best that I could find at any somewhat reasonable price.
(Well, I was looking for button cell testers.)
Maybe you got a lemon, its just a simple voltage meter.
I have that one. Been working fine for almost 2 years now. I use it instead of breaking out the DMM or dropping it in a charger real quick.
To each their own. Good luck in your search.
better battery testers apply a small load resistor
even better, they apply bigger loads to bigger cells ( as in D cell gets more than C cell, special load for 9V, button cells, lithium primaries)
Yes, testing a battery with a small load is pretty much required for lithium primary batteries (like CR2032). Open voltage might still be 3V even when dead. If you measure with a 1k resistor load then it can drop below 2V and you will know it’s dead.
