Liquid Electrical tape

Is Liquid Electrical Tape a good idea for repairing a small tear in a battery wrap?

I have a very small opening near the top rim of a 21700.
I read where nail polish is one solution, but I would think the liquid tape would be more flexible and better for heat.

That could possibly work but it might peel off easily. This is my go to for things like this

I think I have some of that stuff . I’ll give it a try

Thanks

I would prefer to consider such a fix temporarily, lest that spot be more susceptible to future handling damage, especially since it is near the top, where there is less distance to span to create a short between the case (negative) and the positive terminal.

In fact, personally I would just use electrical tape unless there are clearance issues, and plan to get some new battery wraps the next time I place an order from a store that sells them.

Why not just rewrap the battery? Seems like the safest and most permanent solution to me.

My first thought was corona dope, or some variation thereof, such as this:

I just ordered some wraps from AliExpress for a permanent fix.

Ordering from AliExpress is akin to a pregnancy, it is measured in trimesters.

Looks like some good answers to the original question.

I was just thinking of liquid electrical tape the other day. I think I fried another driver by shorting it on a reflector. I had taped the underside but evidently not well enough. Has anyone tried coating their reflector in LET to prevent shorts?

i’ve used it on the blade of my hockey stick and it works great. Just let it have time to dry and it makes a good insulation for electrical work.

I am using liquid tape for years now. Not only for flashlights stuff but it's used in the aviation industry as well, at work.

So yes, go ahead. That stuff becomes like rubber once cured and isolates whatever you want.
