Niwalker ES3 03/28 New head release (SFT 40) 05/04 (new video beamshot SFT 40 head)

Interesting light. Funny that it comes for $80 for three heads and a battery. But extra heads are between $15 and $30 EACH.

Would have been more of interest to me if there was a reasonably priced package with all the available heads. Otherwise becomes a very expensive light in a hurry.

Really like the format/design/concept and the desert tan colour though.

Yes head part are expensive.
Compare to ES2 75 USD body with x3 Seoul UV led, x3 XPL HI and no cell ES3 is better deal
For ES2 that was 15-25 USD x3 LED depending brand and 9 USD for single CREE XPL HI/HD.

Don’t know for ES3 but ES2 is claim with 5 year warranty on the box

What kind of driver does it use? Buck hopefully?

1lumen make rewiew of ES2
Interesting, never read before, i’m agree with their issu (Oring ring cut off) and conclusion, exept 3 star total note.
Just I’m surprise on the lumen test only 590 for single XPL-HD, not my favorite LED on this light I need to retry later but nothing had shocked me during these uses.
Not real output claim, ok but for this tall and light the princip is to mix different beam and not breach the limit.
beyond the numbers I consider the lamps first of all as dishes, if a dish is good have not necessarily know what is in it.
On this case ES2 is great meal  probably 2500-3000 lumen with one 3 XPL-HI and one 1 XPL-HI but fine, great bubble of light to see all around 30-40 meter)
I am not against hardware or physical limitations volontary or not, I use inside Samsung 50E and i’m satisfied. 5000 lumen or over on this light tall/design is useless for me.
No LVP protection warning, I’m a big boy, similar “reduce/simple” Anduril UI 3 click from off after 20-30 minute use for check lvl

Niwalker ES3 - YouTube
I’m still excited to receive her.
I’m really think ES3 is upgrade to ES2, I’ll keep you informed and if it’s shit I’ll tell you too :innocent: I want Niwalker upgrade ES serie (and website >_<), don’t make shit.

I’ve found used camera (Panasonic Lumix FZ82 not especially better in night condition (for shoot light  ) but visibly it’s in very low luminosity I didn’t plan to compare moonlight/low level for the moment, I also have AI software to try remove a possible digital noise) it should happen tomorrow (I have a doubt) seem good for a start with reasonable price, I project first use to it make video and pics for compare ES2 on my other single cell cool white light Nitecore TM9K/P20iX, Astrolux EC01/03 (50.2) and Wildtrail WT1M (50.2) NSXE (SFS80 LED) .

I wish I could do it by Sunday

I do my first try night shot and i don’t clearly remember what is the LED for each pics :person_facepalming:

One think is to be a pics of the light before the shot
After many reflexion i’m pretty sur for the light add to shot

My first try , you can give your opinions here for the moment
I’ve do video with more mixed results, need time to enhanced and adjust by software
I open soon a topic for my Try/evolution pics and video nightshot

I had the mixed 9 colors glow gaskets, you may match the colors before and after glow.

I kinda disappointed when I recieved them, some of the colors didnt match with the naming of it.
The most “near red” is the middle-bottom one. That match the color of Convoy’s Orange-tail switch LEDs. No actual red glow gasket from Niwalker, I guess.
Right-bottom gasket’s glow is like liiight orange/warm white.

I wanted to find out some answers about ES3 from Niwalker website , contacted them on Skype, Wechat, by email, and by filling out the online form.

No response anywhere.

Maybe someone here can help? below are my questions:

1. Does the Osram Pusra emitters have the best throw distance among the offered emitters?? What is the throw distance of 1 head with 3 Osram emitters? How many lumens is one head with Osram ?
2. What is the throw distance of 2 heads with Osram pusra emitters when installed together?
3. What is the throw distance of 3 heads of Osram emitters installed together ?
4. If I buy the the light with 3 heads of XPL hi emitters plus 2 spare heads with Osram emitters, can I interchange them myself at a later time? Won’t there be any issues with the drivers if I interchange different emitters heads, shouldn’t they use different drivers?

thanks!
Mike

1. Not exactly sure, Although I do have other Niwalker lights with the Osram Pusra and its a domed emitter so its not going to give throw like the W1 and W2
2. Not sure
3. Not sure
4. Yes they are all interchangeable, the driver is inside the removable part.

Thanks. Good to know they are interchangeable.
Even the domed emitters can have a good throw. It would be great to find out what it is.

@Cloud check out the specs on the Niwalker ETMini V2 it has the same emitter in the single side.

I did, thank you. It seems like it’s not very throwy. I thought ES3 would be a potential combination or option of flood and throw , but now it seems like even with 3 heads ( 9 Pursra emitters) it may not throw too far…

Yeah, this separate 3 head design is not going to be a major thrower. Some modest throwing with lots of spill.

I’ve got an ET mini V2 and find it to be a very well made flashlight. I like the UI. Fit & finish is excellent. Good on-board charging. The interchangeable heads is a novel idea. But for use cases… I’d tend to think they’re very specific. If modular heads were a little more reasonably priced, I’d be tempted for the uniqueness of this.

Yes exactly, I too was somewhat tempted with the interesting idea of changing heads, but the practicality of this is questionable. And since they don’t allow an option is switching from flood to good throw, it is probably better/ faster / possibly cheaper to use 2 specialized lights with better beam profiles. Although it’s just my speculation, since I don’t own one. Never liked the niwalker lights from looking at their specs, never made my sense to me, thought this one would finally be different, Jt I guess not.
I will look into getting the et mini 2 though. Thanks

Niwalker does have a few reflector modules, but given the size, they won’t be throwing all that far. Having all 3 sockets with them would just spread the spill, not extend the range. But it’s really cool to see all of the options. With Hank’s dual channel and tint ramping, I’d rather go that route for flexibility on tints. Cheaper too.

The ET Mini V1 was on sale for just $20, with battery. That’s a good deal. I wish the ET2 Mini V2 would get a similar discount, like $25. I’d probably get another. I’ve got a black one that I bought early on when Niwalker had a really good sale (Review LINK). I admit I don’t use it a lot, but I sometimes take it on walks with me to play with it. The combined 3000k + 6000k is a nicely balanced tint.

:weary: Notification desactivate for this thread, I don’t see our post

For Niwalker question their website is not reachable for me (error time connection) since Chinese New Year.
So it’s normal they don’t answer during Chinese new year but website offline is strange.

Not light for pure thrower, I don’t think they made time for spec/ and for ES2 they “anecdotal” all of spec are visibly based on XPL-HD x3 head only

Receiv today
First impression are very good, the general quality is greatly improved compare to my ES2.
Massive spill beam ,like hope, just a feelling, for me with caution around 3k lumens at max rampe 6k on turbo (I think I’m below with safety margins) with 3 head Samsung.
Colors temperature and CRI seem good compare to my MF01 mini 4k and Acebeam E70 GT-FC 40.
I dont now if they have thermal control, no indication but after few try lot of heat on head at turbo and high output keep
Only ramp step , no smooth
No cell inside

look forward to trying it out tonight for more testing, but it’s consistent with what I expected i’m combine them with X65 mini 5000K (4000k in reality) that could be complementary.
I take MF01 mini 4000K E70 and Convoy M21B GT-FC 40 4500k for compare color temperature/CRI
Take also my 2 other head 1 head 3 XPL HD and 1 head OSRAM PUSRA1.PM (3W)
MF01S 4000k and ES3 with 3 Samsung seem be good combo too, try later.

Post scriptum: After read the test the 1lumen rewiew when he say 1 XPL-HD have only 500 lumens i’ve try with mine:
Under certain conditions (very rare and unknow after many try) I could see the light twice by 2 the current of 1 head, for unknow reason, use the switch 1-1 and 2 head for resolve issu.

Practicality is good, 10 seconde for change 1 head
For a space of 1 21700 cell you have 3 head
You can mix different beam and color temperature according to what you desire (depending on what Niwalker offer)
Buy just a head and no full light

FYI, the niwalker website was still up about a week ago and then went down. They never responded to me which was even prior to the Chinese new year, I guess they started celebrating early. not sure what this means as I don’t have a lot of experience corresponding with them.

I’ve contact them to skype before 14/01 and they respond under 24h with daily connection on skype.
Except Chinese new year, no connection to skype since
No experience before too, one of reason I do this thread, my first buy on their website who until then, did not inspire me confidence, I bough my ES2 on Banggood

Edit:
First thought after a few hours of use

I confirm my first think, in progress on many points, i’m very happy.

3 Bad point for the moment

- Max ramp too low, the difference between turbo is clearly x3, compare to ES2 with max rampe realy close tu turbo, turbo is pretty nice with good runtime for 9 Samsung 4000k but is this configuration 3x3 LED the max rampe seem low, 1X 3 LED + 2x1 LED ord 2x3 LED+ 1x1 LED should fix this problem

  • We need 1 x 1 LED head for throw hop come soon.
-OSRAM PUSRA1.PM single is terrible 3000K with pink tint :confounded: but associate to XPL HD 3 LED head is not bad, bad because the osram have same throw seem the XPL HI 3 LED of ES2 no purpose for this ES3 (So the beam is the best for 3 LED configuration, for me, but then the tint and the general rendering of OSRAM PUSRA1.PM are to vomit)
XPL HD and the Samsung LED are pretty same beam profil
Bonus issu; Cell shake inside, no breaking connection but little shake perceptible

Very nice heat dissipation, I had planned to use it as “winter light” ( >10 degres celcius) 5° tonight pretty nice, for the power and the size very nice runtime on turbo and quick heat down when using other flashlight, max ramp sustainable.
Wall/light flood beam working range 0-20 meter max rampe 0-40 meter turbo a big bubble of High CRI, no hotspot.
I’ve try combo X65 mini/ ES3 turbo, king of light 0-300 meter beam, WOW
Around 3.6-3.5 volt we can see from our eyes power decrease in coincidence with the button that turns red, but the light keep a good relative power in turbo. (no stessfull red button blinking and other, a pretty nice and smooth red fixe, I like. )
I don’t try for the moment under 3.4 volt, i’m not fan to pass my cell under 3.3-3.2 volt, for this night i’ve just put cell per cell for feed the monster and it’s was pretty nice.
The temperature and CRI of the Samsung LED appears to be compliant, I passed under bridges with great graffiti the rendering was magnificent compared to my MF01 mini/Acebeam E70 ( same CRI and tint, but the wider and homogeneity of the ES3 is so great for that, just WOW again  ) the shades and red/brown contrast of the leaves of some tree in winter was also in line with what can be expected from a 90 CRI 4000k

Probably more reflexion tomorrow, nice try for tonight even though this lamp sorely misses throw, hope throw head soon.

I’ve launch my thread for my quest to reach an acceptable quality to my Picture/video

First pic to compare ES3 to ES2

others will arrive later when I have time

Any pics of the tint on this emitter? Rosy tint for WW emitters is a plus for most people here as most prefer below the bbl tint. As long as it is not literally pink.

Not completely pink but enough to be clearly felt to the eye
I’m planning on taking her tonight.
Not expected to carry a tripod though.

I will look for found a more or less white wall and take a quick comparative photo series

Edit: CRI 80 for OSRAM however.

Edit 2 After night shot

Lot off fail to enhanced picture, all of raw loose the original colors.
I still have a lot of work in perspective.
So I put the original JPG

ALL in turbo

WARNING

After fail multiple setting I’ve choose full auto setting for night picture shot so Lumix modifie shutter time which has the effect of balancing the power hence the little difference between P20iX and TM9K.
I made some video who I post later better for see output difference.
Do not take into account the 2 panels on the right they are ultra reflective so the photo is overall not under or too exposed.

Edit:
Add video compare ES3, M21B, D4SV2, MF01 mini

I find it quite representative of the use that can be made with ES3, Close range/wide space.
I’ve an other in stock, on other spot, I still have to cut it up and add the various superposition
