Fireflies PL09MU new E21A 21700 flash light from Fireflies

Mine has an abbreviated program fyi.

Thank you for the heads up. As far as you can tell, what disappeared in the abbreviation?

I should’ve looked earlier, FF included with the box came an abbreviated operations/diagram instructions.
Step ramping
smooth ramping
turbo
Battery check
Strobe’s
Lock out
Aux off low high blinking
are all the features noted

Oh so this is a more muggle friendly version of the Nov-Mu AND of Anduril. Kinda like a new cross between simple mode and advanced. Good to know. Thank you for confirming it with the included manual.

Thanks for the explanation but I’m a little bummed this was my first endevour to the enthusiast flashlight world and the”FF” definitely wasn’t advertised I guess I’ll just have to buy another lol… P.S. still an awesome light though

Does the light accidently switch on?
I tend to carry in a pocket full of junk

Are there reviews of this light. I don’t care for lumens above 1000, but I’m a stickler for high efficiency flooders with a spotless beam.

No the light doesn’t accidentally turn on haven’t had that problem besides you can lock it out via 4 clicks or 1/4 turn on tail cap its a great flooder excellent color rendering

Can you do 15 clicks from Off and check what is the Anduril version (if it does run Anduril)?

I’m guessing this may be Anduril 2, and after a factory reset, Anduril 2 will be in the Simple UI mode which has the more advanced features Disabled (ie. only Battery-voltage Check, but no Strobe modes)

In case it is Anduril 2 with Simple UI, then do 10H (from Off, do 10 clicks but the last click should be a “hold” (do not release, until the light blinks once), This will set it to Advanced UI where the other features like Strobe are then enabled.

Anduril UI made specifically for this light it is a simplified version its not anduril 2 either it has one strobe function but the rate is adjustable by ramp up or down if you want full anduril version the light will have to be flashed. I tried factory reset multiple times its permanently set to a more simple version

Thanks for the quick response!

Any idea if this model can be updated to the regular Anduril 1 or Anduril 2? Does this light have flashing pad/points for updating firmware?

Yes it does have the flashing pad and can be updated

Which build should I flash, if I would want to?

I’m waiting for the tool to do so its on the way but I think the fireflies PL47 will work since they are very similar that is the flash im gonna try first

I wish I had saw this thread earlier. Jack contacted me in November to share a coupon code and affiliate link for the pl09MU, but only on Reddit.

anyway, when I was asking him for details about it back then (because it hadn't been released yet), he had told me it had a "simplified version of Anduril".

I hadn't thought to share that, mostly because I was so busy with the holidays. I had barely even shared his coupon, and I didn't share an affiliate link. Mostly because it was confusing, and I wasn't concerned with it. I just wanted to get the code to people.

I finally have one on order, excited to check it out. It will be my FIRST mule and FIRST e21a light!

Thanks i appreciate it but got 15% off on NealsGadget thanks to Matt Smith but you are gonna love this light the Nichia leds have amazing CRI and brightness let me know what you think

If Pl47 doesn’t work then try the ROT66 but be careful of what the FET % output settings are the Nichia LEDS burn out quickly if its higher than 60%

ive owned and sold a couple rot66, nice lights I just never use. I much prefer the e12r.

in the rot66 nichia, if you're use a lower amp battery you don't have to worry about limiting software & FET. I have consistently put 5amps through a d200 219b with no problems., and I am pretty sure FireFlies uses D220.

here is a battery that wouldn't risk burning the 219b, and it's a fantastic quality 18650 to boot. https://www.18650batterystore.com/collections/panasonic-18650-batteries/products/panasonic-ncr18650ga-ga6

(pardon sort of off-topic for this thread…)

Your battery link shows to the Sanyo NCR18650GA.

I have some NCR18650GA, but the NCR18650GA on the link looks a bit different = the color wrapper and the battery looks like the NCR18650B (or some related one in the “B” series).

Just wondering, my NCR18650GA is a pink-red wrapper and has a slightly raised flat-top, whereas the ones on the page only has a “flat-top”.

Any idea what’s the difference between the red-pink NCR18650GA compared to these light green NCR18650GA with a “flat-top”?

Got info from Jack, to not flash normal Anduril UI on it, because it will burnout the LED's. And that they are working on full version of Anduril UI for it.

Just to follow up on this, the Fireflies website says “FireflyLite PL09MU started utilizing Anduril V2 UI since 2022 July 7th.”

Don’t have one, so can’t confirm, but would be interested if someone else can.
