Negative Amutorch experience

Having Lumintop X9L and Neals NlightD T90, I decided to order Amutorch XT45 because of the mechanical switch and simple UI. So ordered from Amutoch website and received to my biggest surprise a light with front electronic switch and corona with XT45 logo on it. On top I was charged with taxes once at Amutorch website and second time in the post office.
Of course I complained heavily, that this has nothing to do with my order and asked them to ship the correct light and pick the wrong one on their expense (or make me an offer for it). Instead they offered me 35% from my next purchase. Paypal did not help much with “ship back to China for full refund” as this solution will set me back 50$ net (shipping +extra tax). Of course there will be no next purchase with this kind of customer care, so I will not use their generous offer

I will manage the light easily, but just beware when dealing with Amutorch.

that sucks, not getting the light u wanted… shippin stuff to china aint cheap exactly… can understand u are dissapointed who wouldnt be?

You could try asking if you may keep the light for paying manufacturing costs. That may be an acceptable way. Just to limit your loss and to get the light you want.

PayPal has a service where they pay for shipping returns. Not sure if it works for all countries.

Thanks, I did it - after this mail they just disappeared, so I had to raise the dispute with Paypal:

“Dear Mashy,

Let us first sort out your mistake, then we can eventually discuss next orders.

My problem is, that I have received wrong light and I have paid 4$ more in taxes. My preferred solution is to receive the correct one, but if you are not able to send it, then alternatively you can also refund the amount paid.

Your problem if I think logically is what to do with the wrong light. I will happily discuss options, that fit you, after you solve my problem.

Best regards,

Yasen”

Thank you, looks like not valid for my country - this page disappeared after I logged in Paypal. No mention of return cost payment in the mail or procedure either.

Try doing a search on your country's PayPal.

Geez just yesterday I was thinking to post a positive on ordering from Amutorch. I ordered from their website right after new year (30% off sale) and got SD5 (SST-40) and 21700 cell as ordered in just 3 weeks. Light works great, just no manual. Light pretty much consistent with Zeroair review.

Anyhow, given they have at least +some+ capacity for good service and delivering proper lights, it would be nice if they would make good with you.

Yep, sad truth, not all countries are equal in the eyes of Paypal:

IMPORTANT: You may be required to return the item to the seller or other party we specify as part of the settlement of your claim. PayPal Buyer Protection does not entitle you to reimbursement for the return shipping costs that you may incur.

This was to be my third Amutorch light, I am not commenting the quality of the light, as I did not even check it, besides the fact, that it is working. I just wanted to have simple Hi-low clicky SBT90 light - this was the only light, that offered these features. They seem to not understand why I ordered this thing and also seem to go to much simpler/cheaper route of removing the double switch and double tube and replacing with front switch. All this downgraded stuff was nicely announced as “Limited edition, which was sent by mistake”.

What I actually expect them to do, is to send the correct product and I will gladly buy and sell the wrong light - I have no problem with that. I know they might loose money, but find it unfair me to loose money because they have made a mistake. It will aslo be fair the above cost savings/downgrades to be reflected in the price. So thread is how they treat customers in such (small) incident, not what lights they make.

I still have one, am willing to sell it but shipping is not cheap tracked is 18,50€

I probably should have posted about this “new” side-switch version of the Amutorch XT45 V90 earlier…

During last year’s 11.11 sale, I reordered the Amutoch XT45 from Amutorch website, also expecting the previous mechanical tailswitch version (which I already own).
(the picture and description in Amutorch website is still the earlier XT45 with tailswitch)

When the item arrived last December, I was also surprised that the “XT45” became “XT45 V90”, and it uses a side-switch instead of a tailswitch.

Performance of the 2 units (previous tailswitch XT45 SBT90.2 and the new XT45 V90 SBT90.2) appears to be similar, so I didn’t complain to Amutorch…

Also, the UI is the special Amutorch group/ramping UI - fortunately I have experience with the AX3 and E3S, which uses similar UI.

But it’s still not the simple tailswitch operation of the earlier XT45… :frowning:

The earlier XT45 SBT90.2 is probably one of the few mechanical tailswitch operated flashlight that uses SBT90.2 LED
(the FW21 X9L and MC13 SBT90.2 also use tailswitch but is not the same mechanical type)

~

Just wondering, in your communication with Amutorch, does Amutorch still have the earlier ‘mechanical tailswitch’ version of the XT45 with SBT90.2 LED in stock?

I did not open the topic for the quality of the light - just do not need another SBT90.2 with e-switch. The whole thing is that I have received something not ordered and how they reacted. Actually I was expecting customer service to react similar to this analogue case:
