Mateminco MT04 faulty / won't turn off

Hi!

New to the forum, one of my friends is dragging me down the rabbit hole of flashlights with me (and now I think I might like being down here :P).

Anyway, he had a set of Mateminco MT04’s (2) and I don’t know the full story (eg. why he didn’t try to exchange them), but they both suffer from the same issue, they turn on as soon as you tighten the tailcap, so he gave me one and I am troubleshooting it.

Once you do turn the the light on, the switch is unresponsive for a little bit (doesn’t seem to be the same amount of time every time). Finally it will come to life, but doesn’t seem to allow all the Anduril commands. It will sometimes let you ramp, and double clicking for turbo mostly works. I took the switch apart after reading this teardown thinking it might be stuck on, but tests fine. With the switch apart I put the batteries back in and same behavior, so I don’t believe it is a switch.

New to these more technical lights, but could the wrong build of Anduril be on these lights from the factory and causing issues? Really want to get this working if I can. Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

At what power level does it turn on ? medium~lowish ? Could be a faulty AMC7135, it’s a common type of failure with them, and it seems to have become increasingly frequent lately.

Yeah, I would say it is medium lowish. Huh, bummer

So is there a way for me to test this? And how hard is the repair? I haven’t done a lot of soldering work on PCB’s
