Wrist watches. Post pics, if you EDC one!

Thanks! Stunning design. Really speaks to me. Did you buy it direct from Helm or via another channel? On the site it looks to me like they’re produced in very small batches, and gauged by waiting list requests.

who made the one on the left?

is that one where the whole face glows with lume?

Agreed … very nice looking watch.

I was very early to sign up on the wait list and received this beauty early last week directly from Helm.

Well worth the wait.

The watch’s pictured are made by Islander (Long Island Watch). Yes the face of the watch on the left is fully lumed.

I still prefer an uncomplicated watch. Here is my favorite DX3 with one of my favorite budget knives.

Watches Watches Watches. I got bit by the watch bug back in the late 70’s
Bought phony Rolex watches for $5.00 each in Chinatown in NYC.

Today I have a bunch of watches I don’t wear. Once I retired knowing the time became less important.

I have some really nice stuff and some really cheap stuff.

I thought it would be nice to have some quality time pieces to hand down to my sons.
Something to remember me by.

However, none of them even have a passing interest in watches.

My watch rotation is pretty boring. I mostly just wear this one, occasionally swapping out for a different band or one of the other colors of DX3. :stuck_out_tongue:

Here it is again with a Pentel Hexreform and a Kizer Latt Vind Mini.

Marathon GSAR antrachite
Have been a fan of Marathon watch.
Bought the first Marathon SAR back in 2004, when they were about US$500 or so, but sold it a few years later.
Really regretted that decision

Another Casio Men's G-Shock GD-350

This one is claimed to be in pristine condition.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/394095323997

It's $50 + $5 shipping, but the seller accepts offers.

If this watch had a negative display, I would get it for myself.

I keep on looking for a GD-350 in great condition with a negative display, but they're rare and usually more expensive than the ones with a regular display.

I have never had any need or desire for a watch, but these Welder brand watch faces give me a serious Fallout Pip-Boy vibe. Especially using the leather strap.

Edit: Fun little detail I just noticed as well. The watches say “Since 2075”.
In the Fallout universe, the nuclear war that ends the world happens on October 23, 2077.
They fit the lore of tha Fallout universe!

Do you actually prefer negative LCDs? I’ve only ever met people who had the opposite preference, myself included. I’ve actually modified my daily Protrek as it originally came with inverted LCD that was much harder to read in less than perfect lighting conditions.

I hear that the GD-350 with a negative display is very readable.

I already have two GD-350 watches with a positive display, so I want to try out the negative display that many people like.

Whichever I don't like, I can just sell, and recoup most of my money spent on that watch.

I only want/need two of these watches...

One to wear and one backup.

Ah, right, makes sense.

just got this yesterday

on my very own dainty wrist, not [hopefully] looking too overly-manly

casio duro, sometimes on sale at amazon and walmart for $40

i officially have 2 many watches now, i think it is at 10 that i am actively rotating

and about 10 more waiting for a battery to die on the first 10

!

casio duro 05/31/2022

!

I love that these wind from the left. I wear my watch on my left wrist. One of the more annoying things about traditional placement is if that stuff rubs on the back of my hand.

Casio g shock solar atomic.
Had the first version for many (many) years. The case is metal, the band is metal, the transition parts between the case and band is some sort of very hard rubber like stuff.
This eventually degrades and off comes the watch. I kept making mods and kept it going for 8 or so more years.

Only found one place that listed a replacement. A whopping $3.50 - but naturally never in stock.
The rubber parts that surround the buttons eventually hardens up and they wont push anymore.
Finally after the last rubber part failure I could do no more. So I ordered a new one.

The new version band is noticeably lighter than the old one. The original has solid metal links.
The new band is made of stamped sheet metal folded into the same shape as the old version.
Ahhh Progress…

After the initial setup, never touched the time, or anything else, for as long as I wore it.
Always the correct time.
Charges off room lighting just fine.
All the Best,
Jeff

Speaking of Watchuseek, I'm trying to buy a watch on that site.

I'm waiting for the seller to get back to me.

I hope I can snag the watch that I'm interested in.

Good luck with your purchase. Watchuseek is a great site. I’ve been a member there for many years with numerous successful transactions.
