I posted this in the Amazon deal thread, but I think it might deserve its own thread.
Here's a lantern that might be good for $10.79

I wonder if 1800 lumens for 3 hours is even close to true.
I'd like to know how bright it is on high (in real life), and what runtime it has on high.
...
Also, I wonder if it runs on an 18650 and if that battery is removable.
...
Oops, looks like the deal is over.
Now it's $17.99
(I was going to order three of them, but at the lower price.)

In the product video on amazon you can see, that it runs on one removeable 18650.
So even with a good 18650, 3h on 1800 lumens is not nearly achievable.
The removeable 18650 is excellent news!
I knew that 1800 lumens for 3 hours would be impossible, but I'd still like to know the real numbers.
If I could order this for $10.79, I think I would.
I just wasn't quick enough to get the deal today.

anything ‘vipon’ is not going to be great
sofirn is at least an honest light company
I would just get a regular light and put a piece of milk jug over the end.
Not true.
This no-name lantern might not be great, but there are plenty of items on Vipon that are great.
I have bought great items with a Vipon discount before.

maybe
but everything they sell is based on price - the deals they run across
it will not all be ‘good’
That's about as helpful as saying that not everything on AliExpress/eBay/Amazon will be 'good'.
Or saying that not everything made in China will be 'good'.

yup
just a warning
by the time anyone could order, receive and test their stuff, 90% of the time it is sold out

Fair enough.
The Sofirn is a much safer bet, though this Vipon deal looks interesting to me.
I think neither one of them has any reviews online, however.

Me too!
It’s very sure that it’s cold white like >6,000K.
If anyone want’s candle light warm white, go for the Sofirn LT1S
Well, this is new. A shorty, single 21700 LT1 with a red channel and a wider adjustable CCT range? Also looks like you might be able to individually control left and right side emitters.

Here’s what I could gather
Emitters: 18x 2700k, 18x 6500k, 4x red (all unknown manufacturer/model/CRI/duv, but they’re referred to as CSP—perhaps Nichia E17A, E21A or Luxeon HL1)
UI: Unknown, but features suggest a customized Anduril with triple-click for red.
Battery: 1x21700 (onboard US…

Just got the cheap Sofirn lanterns:
- comes with 1200mAh battery (being charged/discharged)
- always comes on HIGH (quite brite)
magnetic tail is pretty strong but when screwed in all the way, about 3mm above the bottom of the feet but still works ok
The Zanflare T1 is much better and has mode memory. But no longer avail/cheap. Should be good to work under car or sink.

I recently came across a deal site which also shows the amazon views and comment numbers, I believe is somehow better than Vipon.
Not so many products though, but kinda like a good source to get deals
