Great movie! I need to watch more of Cary Grant’s movies. His comedic delivery is phenomenal and he generally manages to do it without going full-clown (looking at you Will Ferrell)
Did the new Dune. My wife was lost at first. And I can see why.
But I read the books and saw the first move.
Liked it.
And what an awesome sound track.
Think I’m going to need a second sub-woofer for part 2.
Sing 2. I liked it - so there - I said it out loud.
All the Best,
Jeff
I’m generally a fan of Guillermo del Toro’s movies but I wouldn’t watch this one again. The main character has a very shallow character arc and is unlikable for the entire 2.5 hr movie. I held out hope that the ending would have some kind of twist that would re-contextualize the rest of the movie and transform it into something great. I was disappointed. Every story beat plays out exactly how one would expect. The film is gorgeous and the actors were pros, but it wasn’t enough.
I thought it was very well done. I don’t know how true to form it is (how can we possibly know?) but the effort to do the whole language like that was amazing. So much would’ve been lost if it was in English. It really feels like the period was captured well.
Finally caught “No Time To Die”, the last James Bond flick with Daniel Craig. It’s definitely a companion movie to “Spectre”, where you have to see that one first. All in all, a nice addition to the Bond franchise. And it should be the last, given how everything wrapped up.
Haven't seen it in years, so I'll probably take a look later tonight. As I recall, the science is a little suspect, but that's not what the movie's about!
Watched: Occupation: Rainfall
There’s 2 hours of my life I won’t get back.
Crappy soundtrack - Had to keep dialing the volume up and down to hear the dialogue during the quiet parts and lower to keep the cones inside the speaker during the battle scenes.
And at the end (which isn’t an end) we see that there is a Part 2 coming.
Not even a good bowl of Popcorn helped this one.
All the Best,
Jeff
Just saw 2014’s Paddington. Very endearing, felt very authentic. While I’m not British, I did grow up reading some Paddington Bear books and the movie was quite wholesome and well done. I heard the sequel was as good/better, so I’m looking forward to seeing that one too.
That was based on an old SciFi short story from long ago.
The story was excellent. Basically anyone who was above average was fitted with various devices to dumb them down or limit their athletic abilities.
In the end the superior couple was terminated by the government for being too smart and athletic.
Maybe also a short flick staring Brian Dennehy with the same theme at some time or other. No sure if this is a real memory or a CRC error memory.
