They recycling body tube, just they add extension for this light I presume.

Neal’s UI description is slightly incorrect.

There are 4 normal modes (“Moonlight”, Low, Medium, and High. They are memorized and a half-press cycles to the next mode.

Turbo is accessed by a quick double-half-press from on. A click then quick half-press from off works too.

Strobe is accessed by a quick triple-half-press from on. A click then a quick double-half-press from off works too.

The mode spacing stinks but I will rarely be using this on any mode except Turbo.

Normaly if you turn off a high, if you turn on you start at low, at each start they up one step O_0.

Nice. I was hoping for more. Maybe try some 30Ts in it. Hopefully Neal will send one for testing…he promised but we’ll see. Nightwatch UIs are nothing to write home about. No surprises there. I wonder why it won’t turn on with one cell?

I will try and review mine when I get it. It should in theory be able to do more than 20k lumens but in a 2 series light it will be hard as you are limited to the current output of one cell plus there are not to many high amperage 6v drivers. 3-4 cells in parallel would have been better, still this light is doing 100+ watts no slouch.
I have some P42A cells and they are top tier.

I’m assuming it has LVP, so one cell would be well below the LVP cutoff. I imagine that’s why it’s not turning on with one cell.

If anyone makes some 40A 21350’s they’ll work like a charm, haha.

If I were to guess, it’s probably a buck driver, so 6-8.4V is its working voltage range.

Any other configuration would not have been sustainable with such high driving currents in this form factor.

Maybe those leds are 6V and they are using simple Fet driver. I built Convoy L6 with 4 XHP70.2’s and with Molicel P42’s and Fet driver it draws ~31A.

It would have to be a buck driver since the LEDs are 3 volt. Makes sense for LVP. That’s the only feasible way to achieve the current needs for this light. I’m hoping someone measures the current draw on it. Curious to know what it is.

When I turn it on and measure the voltage across the MCPCB wires I’m getting about 4.8V. Doe that make sense to anyone?

Hmm, Neal’s description is correct for me; turbo is only accessed by a triple click from either off or on. I tried double half-tapping from either off or on and no turbo.

They make a 6v version also.

Mine arrived yesterday, I put 2 Vapcell T42s on it, I turned it on and I can tell you that it's scary !!! Brighter than Imalent MS08 and not a little I think it exceeds the declared 28000 lumens, I will do a test this evening to see how many lumens it actually emits but in the meantime I can say that it also has a decent launch and for the first minute a constant leakage sign of a '' excellent thermal dissipation ...

Interesting. Is it possible for you to access strobe? Does yours consistently take a triple tap for turbo or does it only work sometimes?

I have found mine to be very picky about the timing. If I tap too fast it does not go to turbo, and if I tap too slowly it does not go to turbo. I have to be very precise.

My sample has no LVP and it killed my P42A’s after a runtime test. This is after the light displayed low voltage blinks as normal and then shut off, appearing to be LVP. But when I put the cells on the charger, I see that they are down in the ~1.5v range. This not like a 1S / 3V light where a lack of LVP can be tolerated because the brightness will just slowly trail off below 3V. It ran at nearly 2000 lumens (with low voltage blinks at the end) until a hard shut off.

I gave them several more minutes to bounce back and measured with a DMM. It shos 1.9V and 2.1V. Is that still too low to be salvageable?

Man, they were so low that the charger recognised them as nimh’s!

Are the batteries safe to use after being drained to such a low voltage?

So how many amps do you think it’s pulling on turbo? To get that 28,000 magic number I was thinking about 50-60 amps. Is the tail switch electronic or physical? Switches and springs start melting at these levels unless they were really designed to do so. Did you see any signs of spring over heating?

It’s a mechanical switch. Reverse clicky. I am not sure about amperage but it’s very large, much larger than most other switches. Here it is on the right, next to a Convoy 18650 switch and a Convoy 21700 switch.

The spring shouldn’t be a problem either. Check out this bypass design. Very clever.
