Can I use USB-A to USB-C adapter to use TC66C with USB-A chargers?
Mike

Yeah you can, but the output will be most likely fixed at 5V, and depending on the cable it may or may not transmit the power to the other end, some USB-C cable requires authentication before allowing power transfer.

Regarding the POWER-Z FL001 SUPER, is there any way to force the meter to start in English? As is, every time I plug it in I have to change the interface from Chinese to English, which is mildly annoying despite it not being that difficult.

Also, is there a firmware update that offers support for Apple’s charging protocols?

*For anyone searching for information on changing the language: double-click the large rocker-style switch, then double-click it again. English! (Unless you accidentally single clicked it the second time. In which case, enjoy your newly rotated display. In Mandarin.)

Have problems with the TC66C app, on Samsung with Android 12: says “Storage permissions are not open” and “Storage error” whenever I click on SHARE.
Anybody else having the same issue with Android 12, Samsung or not?

Is there any usb meter under 20€ which I should consider? I would like to measure both USB A and USB C powerbanks and chargers…

T66c seems to be little bit too expensive for my purpose… and also its usb C only?

For something compact and simple, you can use the UM24/UM25.

The UM34 is overall worse than the UM25 in terms of capabilities, but it has the advantage of support Dash Charge/VOOC protocols, which is nice.

I’m not sure if I would buy this though, because it’s very big.

TheHWcave has some great in depth looks and testing of various USB meters. i learned a bunch about my UNI-T UT658 :+1:

i don’t know why he has so few subscribers? i think he’s fantastic.

It’s niche content.

Do I understand right that if I am not interested in OPPO charging protocols then UM34 is better, yea?

@abgx1, if you have no interest in Oppo charging protocols, you want the UM25 actually.

Ah, sure

//one more question, should I buy it from your link to avoid counterfeits or is it safe to buy from random dealer with good reviews?

@abxg1, I prefer buying from RD Tech directly.

They are the original manufacturer last time I checked, and have very good support.

It doesn’t matter too much in the end, so pick your choice

Sharing info on a new USB-C EPR PD3.1 QC5.0 (240W) tester… ChargerLab / Power-Z KM002C.

The KM002C appears to come in a lite and full version of the per listings on aliexpress.

Also an updated KM003C with slightly larger display may in the works.

Looks like it’s sold out on Amazon. Is possible to purchase this on AliExpress or are counterfeits?

ChargerLAB is the US / English brand with English site and links to Amazon US.

The Chinese brand is Power-Z. They have a separate website: https://www.power-z.cn/ The Power-Z site has links to various online Asian suppliers & market places as well as back to Amazon US.

I suspect these units are too new for counterfeits at this point…. but you are likely to see other brands work with the same OEM to release their version of this unit in time. I.e. The older Shizuku / AVHzY CT-3 / Power-Z KT002 / Atorch UT18 are the same underlying hardware. Shizuku / AVHzY CT-3 / Power-Z KT002 / Atorch UT18 USB Tester and SM-LD-00 Module Review – USB Charging

Here are a couple links that show KM002c and now the KM003C in stock: (Note - I have NOT ordered from either supplier so YMMV.)

Aliexpress Update - The link I had saved for the KM002C now takes you to the KM003C. (See below)

I am looking at purchasing the Chargelab Power-Z KM-003c myself. They have a YouTube channel so you can see it in action. ChargerLab YouTube Chanel
I can recommend the AVHzY brand. I have the C3 Type-C tester and works very well. I have converted almost everything to USB-C so therefore
I bought the USB-C tester. It has pretty good PC software that you connect via USB-C.

I’m also looking at Witen. But their newest tester (C4) seems to be in beta form still therefore I am waiting. But it also looks fantastic.

I also own the YZXStudio ZY1276 and a couple cheap Keweisi KW-1902c and the KWS-MX18L. The cheaper ones are very basic, but might be all you need.

Check them all out and compare to see which one is best for your needs.

Hi All,

My first post and I am a total noob looking for some advice.

I am bought bunch of overlapping USB C accessories for my Surface 8 Pro (Lightning 3 / USB 4) and I would like to measure which combination is the most energy efficient way about them.

What would be the best USB tester for it? I can get TC66 at €25 or FNB48 for €30. I am leaning toward TC66 or is FNB48 a better option for my needs (would FNB48 be better than TC66 for 5euro more)? Or should I look at something else altogether? As TC66 is few years old will it be able to perform voltage / amperage readings on newer USB 3.2 standard devices etc. or can I expect problems - or is it going to be sufficient for my simple task no matter the USB standard?

At the same time my S10+ never fast charged from day one, no matter the charger / cable combo. I wonder if with use of any of the suggested above I could try to diagnose it or would I need something more advanced?

Many thanks

EDIT: I could also get TC64 for €16

EDIT2: Is it already known how FNB58 compare to something like Shizuku / AVHzY CT-3 / Power-Z KT002 / Atorch UT18? and if it is any good? - I wonder if it is worth twice the price of old tech like TC66 (FNB58 currently on black Friday sale).

Hello,

If you wanna do just basic voltage, amps, watts then a cheap on is good or you could check out the cables with the built in W meter. If you want to test cables and have more features like detect the protocol its using, test cables, then I would get the FNB58. I think it’s worth it.

Thanks for coming back to me. So would you prefer FNB58 over AVHzY CT-3?

What do you think about these?
